Happy Birthday to MEEE!!!! + Read-a-Longs

Happy-birthday-to-me-minions-sayingSo today I turned 20! :D It feels weird to be 20 years old now… I’m no longer a teenager.. I’m almost 21. Holy cow. I feel old…

But anyway, beside the point.

I mainly made this post to talk about all the read-a-longs I am planning this summer. This summer I’m planning to read up to 50 books to help decrease my TBR pile. Literally half of my bookshelves consist of un-read books. This summer I’m hosting over 30+ read-a-longs! There are MANY books I have yet to read… Here’s 5 of those embarrassing un-read books!

I’m still working on planning all these read-a-longs, but they start Friday May 16th and will end the weekend before August 25th! Hope you guys can join some of these! (Click the banner to go to the Goodreads group page).

top ten tuesdayTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s theme is ‘Top Ten Books If You Like X tv show/movie/comic/play etc. (basically any sort of other entertainment)’.

This is in no particular order.

twilight the vampire diaries vampire academy blue bloods marked

1. The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer: Honestly the only reason I have this on the list is because of the vampires. Pretty much anyone that has been interested in this series has probably already read it. But, definitely worth the read for vampire lovers like myself. :)

2. The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith: Well, if you love the show you should definitely give the series a shot! Granted, the show is COMPLETELY different from the books and the books have mixed reviews.

3. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead: Ignore the title… If you have yet to read this series, definitely read if you love vampires! I promise you’ll love it!

4. Blue Bloods by Melissa De La Cruz: It’s been years since I’ve read this series so any details are extremely fuzzy, but I do remember really enjoying the series!

5. House of Night series by P.C. & Kristin Cast: Not my favorite series, but definitely enjoyable. It does drag on, but don’t let that get to you. Definitely do not try and marathon this series for all 12-13 books. I promise you will most likely either get A) Super bored after a while or B) Just want to put the series down forever.

6. Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare: If your a fan of TVD, your a fangirl. Fangirls like fandoms. Definitely an amazing fandom to be apart of! Every supernatural creature you can think of, is part of this series!

7. The Mara Dyer trilogy by Michelle Hodkin: Okay, creepy factor + extremely hot boyfriend = fantastic trilogy. Definitely a favorite and definitely recommended for fans of TVD!

8. The Dark Elements series by Jennifer L. Armentrout: Okay, hot guys. Paranormal… Paranormal = vampires and other supernatural beings. Well, demons and gargoyles are in that category! Ohh, did I mention hot guys??? Well, this definitely has it!!!

9. The Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout: Hot guys= CHECK!!! Hot Aliens= CHECKKKKK!!!

10. Darkest Powers trilogy by Kelley Armstrong: I don’t know, it just seemed like something TVD fans would be interested in. TVD definitely has its creepy moments and this trilogy definitely doesn’t disappoint!

Review: Reboot by Amy Tintera

rebootReboot by Amy Tintera
Series: Reboot #1
Published by: HarperTeen on May 7th 2013
Genre: Dystopia, Science Fiction, Romance, Young Adult
Pages: 365
Source: Purchased- Hardcover

My Rating: 3.5 stars

Five years ago, Wren Connolly was shot three times in the chest. After 178 minutes she came back as a Reboot: stronger, faster, able to heal, and less emotional. The longer Reboots are dead, the less human they are when they return. Wren 178 is the deadliest Reboot in the Republic of Texas. Now seventeen years old, she serves as a soldier for HARC (Human Advancement and Repopulation Corporation).

Wren’s favorite part of the job is training new Reboots, but her latest newbie is the worst she’s ever seen. As a 22, Callum Reyes is practically human. His reflexes are too slow, he’s always asking questions, and his ever-present smile is freaking her out. Yet there’s something about him she can’t ignore. When Callum refuses to follow an order, Wren is given one last chance to get him in line—or she’ll have to eliminate him. Wren has never disobeyed before and knows if she does, she’ll be eliminated, too. But she has also never felt as alive as she does around Callum.

The perfect soldier is done taking orders.

Wren died five years ago by three shots to the chest. After being dead for 178 minutes, she came back as a Reboot. Every one thought she was completely dead and wouldn’t reboot. Reboots come back stronger, healthier, and not as emotional when they were human. The longer you were dead for, the less human you are. Wren is one of those that isn’t really human anymore, of all Reboots, she is probably the most dead.

Wren is a soldier to the HARC which is “helping out” the country. Wren usually picks up reboots over 120, but this time, she picks 22, Callum. He is very much human, only being dead for 22 minutes. Callum doesn’t like to follow orders or do what he’s supposed to. Can Wren keep him in line? Because if not, she will have to eliminate him.

my thoughts 2

I read this along with a friend from BookTube, because we both have a 6 book list of books to read together and this was the one we picked. Well, I fell behind because of classes. But that’s beside the point.

I really did enjoy the book, don’t get me wrong. It wasn’t my favorite, but I did enjoy the idea of the story. The one thing that bugged me the most was Wren/Callum’s relationship. I felt as if they spent a lot of time kissing. I know that sounds weird, but they seemed to be kissing quite a lot. They are running for their lives, one gets tired, “ohh let’s start making out”. I don’t know, it was just a little off-putting for me.

As I’ve said, my favorite aspect of this story was the world the author created. I liked the idea of dying and rebooting, and the longer you were dead, the less human you came back as. The world building was amazing! I could vividly imagine what was going on in this world. Maybe because the book is set in Texas and that’s where I live… But nonetheless, the world building was my favorite!

I definitely liked Wren’s character, everything about her was awesome! She was such a kick butt character, funny, and just plain AWESOME!

I also really enjoyed Callum’s character; I liked the fact that he was still pretty much human. He brought out the human side in Wren, yes it was there, but he made her realize that she is still human even though she was dead for 178 minutes.

The last few chapters in my opinion were too predictable, everything that happened was too unreal. There was one part that I was questioning as to why it happened so easily. I promise I won’t spoil it for you guys. :) But, it just seemed all too easy and just predictable.

I definitely do want to continue on with this series/trilogy because I do want to see what happens next. Those that have received ARC’s of Rebel, have either been 4/5 or 5/5 stars so that’s exciting to hear!

Bookish Confessions (#6): Why I’ve Been Absent

bookish confessionsSo if you haven’t noticed, I haven’t posted really anything the past couple weeks. That’s because 1) I’ve haven’t finished any books & 2) I’ve been really busy with school.

This is probably my worst reading month yet. I was planning to make it my best because it’s my birthday month (April 30th) and it just seemed right. Well, I recently just finished my third book today..

School has been very hectic the last couple weeks. Of course, the semester ends in 3 weeks (I have 4 more classes left then finals- Tuesday/Thursday classes) and we had a couple snow days which threw us back so professors are trying to get caught up. So everything is being due lately. Literally I had an anatomy lab report, an english paper and an anatomy lecture test all on Thursday, so I was a little stressed this last week.

This week coming up is considered “dead week” which basically means nothing is due. No tests, quizzes, papers anything. So I’m going to try and use that to my advantage to get caught up a little bit-we will see how that goes.

But basically I just wanted to update you guys in why I’ve been kinda M.I.A. lately. Yes, I’ve been posting Top 10’s and W.o.W., but I pre-write those ahead of time so they were already ready for the most part.

I’m going to try and post a little bit more here soon! I have a lot of things coming up!

I’m going on a book buying ban for this summer because my un-read books are a little embarrassing…

But yeah, I’ll be updating you guys more here soon with everything going on! :)

It’s time.

Evil is running rampant and sweet Anna Whitt is its target. Nobody knows when or how the Dukes will strike, but Anna and her Nephilim allies will do anything necessary to rid the earth of the demons and their oppressive ways.

The stakes are higher than ever, and Anna is determined that the love she feels will be her strength, not a liability. But trying to protect the ones she loves while running for her life and battling demonic forces proves to be perilous—especially as faces are changing and trust is fleeting. When the Duke of Lust sends Anna’s great love, Kaidan Rowe, to work against her, Anna must decide how much she’s prepared to risk.

*Cue fangirling* OH MY GOD…. OH MY GOD!!!!!!! :D

Guys you don’t understand how much I absolutely LOVE this trilogy! I’m not ready to say goodbye to it yet, but I’m SO excited to see what happens! Definitely one of my all time favorite trilogies and I’m hoping this lives up to my expectations. I’ve been hearing pretty good things from those that got ARC’s, but HOLY COW!!!! :D

Top Ten Tuesday: Characters That Stole My Heart

top ten tuesdayTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s theme is ‘Top Ten Characters Who X (you fill in the blank — examples: piss me off, are the popular kids, are bookish, would be my bff, that stole my heart, etc. etc.)’.

This is in no particular order.

daemon black1. Daemon Black from the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I don’t think I need to explain why he’s on this list. Like seriously. Daemon Black. Mr. Freaking Sexy Hot Alien! I adore this guy so so SO much!

DF-080762. Edward Cullen from the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. If I had to put my top 10 in order, he would definitely and forever always be my #1 favorite that has stolen my heart. He will always be my favorite book boyfriend. Anything to do with this saga honestly will forever always be my all time favorite. I’m sorry, but it’s true. I’m a hardcore TwiHard.

travis maddox3. Travis Maddox from the Beautiful Disaster series by Jamie McGuire. I’ve recently fell in love with Travis… Definitely an all time favorite boyfriend. Everything about him is perfect. If you like bad boys… He’s definitely one of them! I don’t usually go for the “bad boy” type, but oohhh man… Travis is definitely worth it!

fangirl4. Levi from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. He was just absolutely adorable in this book. Definitely an all time favorite boyfriend. I love the fact that he loved listening to Cath’s fanfiction and just her fangirl things! THAT IS HARD TO FIND! My boyfriend doesn’t really like to hear about all my fangirl obsessions! He thinks it’s annoying sometimes. So, definitely love me some Levi.

roth whk5. Roth from the Dark Elements series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Holy moly mother of demons… (like that? :) ) There’s absolutely NO question as to why Mr. Sexy Upper Level Demon is on this list. As I’ve said, I don’t usually go for the bad boys… But I’ll definitely go for him! As much as demons freak me out (thanks Supernatural) Roth surpass that line.

stefan salvatore6. Stefan Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith. Yes, this does include the show. I’ve read I believe the first 5 books in the series? I really do love the books and I’d love to continue on at some point. I’m mostly caught up with the show at this point, maybe a couple episodes behind. But guys, if Edward wasn’t my top favorite, Stefan would be. I’m not kidding when I tell you, I’m a hardcore Stelena fan and I absolutely LOVE Stefan!!!!

ignite me7. Warner from the Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi. When I originally started the trilogy I despised Warner. I absolutely HATED the guy. I was Team Adam. I didn’t understand why people loved him SO MUCH! Well, come time finishing Ignite Me… Well, let’s just say I was a HARDCORE Team Warner fan. I absolutely LOVE that man!

the darkest minds8. Liam from The Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken. I love this boy so so SO much! I absolutely adore Liam and Ruby’s relationship… Yeah, I kind of wish I was Ruby… But I don’t know if I would want those kinds of abilities… Or live in that world honestly.

cameron wfy9. Cameron from  Wait For You by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Let’s see… I have 2 other boys from JLA’s books… Sense a trend? :) There’s no questions as to why he’s on this list. I absolutely adore him. Everything about that boy is swoon-worthy.

dimitri10. Dimitri Belikov from the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. I still have yet to seen the movie, but I’ve seen the trailers and everything and I don’t know how I feel about who they picked for him. But no matter what, I still love Dimitri, always have and always will.
