Author: Sarah E. Green
Genre: New Adult/Contemporary Romance
Release Date: September 28, 2017

CristiinaReads – “Overall, this was a love story that did not only captivate my heart, but also my soul…”

The Cozy Reader – “Sarah Green has created a fantastic debut novel about overcoming challenges and fears, self discovery, and falling in love when you least expect it.”

Booklover for Life – “It’s funny, sweet, romantic, and oh so sexy.”

Emery Lawson was on the path to follow her dad’s footsteps. Going pro in surfing had always been the plan. The dream.
Until it wasn’t.
Now, at nineteen, everyone thinks Emery is done surfing and, aside from two of her best friends, no one knows the truth. Emery hasn’t stopped surfing. What was once her dream is now her little secret.

But if she wants to go pro, that secret is going to have to come out.

Twenty-two-year-old Sebastian “Bash” Cleaton has worked hard to get to where he is. For eight years he’s never had a day off, never taken a vacation. He is the best in his sport for a reason. But the passion that once drove him to chase the waves is missing. And Bash—Bash is tired.

When he escapes for a recharge in a small beach town, he never expects to crash into a girl who introduces him to a new life.

Secrets, hardships, and relationships come out of this debut tale of starting over and never letting go of your dreams.

REVIEW:

**4.5 stars**

First off, I’m super excited for Sarah and this book! It’s crazy that a friend of mine is publishing a book!!!
What can I say about this book other than I loved it! I LOVED and ADORED Emery’s character; very sassy and very independent. Then we have Bash…. :) Don’t get me started on him… I mean, what’s hotter than a surfer?! Plus, all the side characters I just adored to pieces and hope that each and every one of them get a book. Because I don’t want to say goodbye to these characters anytime soon.
I couldn’t put this book down and because I needed sleep, I had no other choice but to stop reading and continue the following day. I flew through this book and couldn’t stop from smiling pretty much the entire time.
I do hope Bash and Emery get at least a novella because I do want to see their lives after the book ends. :) I’m always very curious!

Sarah E. Green is a born and raised Florida girl who has an unhealthy obsession with the beach, Netflix, and her pit-mix, Echo. I’ll be there.

Through thick and thin.

Ride or die.

You can count on me.

The promises people make. The vows we take.

Assumptions of the heart.

Emotion tells us how we feel, but life…life has a way of plunging us in boiling water, burning away our illusions, testing our faith, trying our convictions.

Love floating is a butterfly, but love tested is an anchor.

For Grip and Bristol,

Love started at the top of the world

On a Ferris wheel under the stars

But when that love is tested, will they fly or fall?

REVIEW:

Honestly I don’t even know what to say. I’m still trying to pick up the pieces after reading Flow/Grip and now Still. Expect to have tissues handy especially for this one. They will be needed. Trust me.
Bristol and Grip have had such a crazy journey together… And how real these books are. Not just for the couple, but the topics discussed. I kept talking to my best friend who is over the moon in love with these books (And hopefully now will share that love? …. Maybe??) about all the topics… We kept saying how relevant this is to today. Seriously. I can’t even form words to even begin to describe how beautiful this story was. I read Kai and Rhys’ a while back so I knew prior to starting, I would fall in love because Kennedy is such a talented writer. Seriously I couldn’t stop marking lines in the book. Such a beautiful writer. I can’t wait to have all these books in paperback someday and add sticky notes to my favorite quotes and seeing how colorful the book turns out.
I can’t gush enough about Kennedy Ryan. Seriously. Words can’t describe how amazing of a writer and person she is. I adore these books so much and they are definitely a top favorite for the year. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Excerpt:

“Mmmmm, that looks good.”

The comment grabs my attention, and I find myself smiling for the first time since I left Bristol. As she walks toward me, the approaching sunset paints the roof in shadows, but I see her clearly. Dark hair, burnished in places, falls around her shoulders. She has already discarded the dress she wore at lunch today in favor of a T-shirt and nothing else; it’s the one I just tossed into the hamper.

She tugs at my HABITUAL LINE STEPPER T-shirt, the hem landing at the top of her thighs. Where the T-shirt stops, my eyes keep going, past the lean muscles of her legs and the cut of her calves, the delicate bones of her ankles and to her bare feet. I love this girl, head to toe. Beyond this gorgeous packaging, it’s everything beneath that makes me beyond grateful she’s mine. The loyalty, the bottomless pit that is her heart, her sense of humor. The toughest girl I know is also the most tender, and I’m so honored I get to see both sides, all her sides.

“You out of clean clothes?” I nod to my T-shirt. “You gotta wear my dirty stuff now?”

An impish smile tugs at her bare lips. She’s washed away her makeup, and with it, all the sophistication she wraps around herself for her job. Up on this roof in my T-shirt, she’s just my girl. I love her in every iteration, but this is the one only I get to see, so it’s probably my favorite.

“I have clean clothes.” She steps close enough for me to smell her scent and mine mingling in the fabric. “I like the way this shirt smells.”

I drop a look over her, my eyes resting on the curves of her breasts in the soft cotton, where her nipples have gone taut under my stare.

“How does the shirt smell?” I ask, my voice as smoky as the steaks I should be paying attention to.

“Like you.” She leans forward until her breasts press into my chest. “It smells like you.”

My hands are twitching to touch her, and I finally surrender, slipping under the shirt to grasp her waist, pulling her up the few inches until our lips meet. I’ve been thinking about these steaks all day, and before Bristol arrived, I thought I was starving—but this, what I feel having her in my arms after hours apart, this is starving. It starts in my balls and tunnels up through my chest, infiltrates my heart, and presses its way to my mouth, which is open and devouring in a lips-searching, tongues-dueling kiss. I grip her by the ass, grinding our bodies together until the texture of her skin and mine, the scents of her skin and mine meld into this one panting, voracious thing that never seems to get enough.

“You better not burn my steak,” Bristol pants in between kisses.

I angle my head to send my tongue deeper into her mouth, holding her still, teasing her until she’s straining up, open and begging when I pull back.

“Grip.” My name is a whimpering complaint. She cups my neck and tugs my head back down.

“Oh, no.” I resist, laugh, and turn to the grill. “You were so concerned about me burning these steaks, Ms. Medium Rare.”

“I am.” She slides her arms around me from behind and I feel a sweet sting, her teeth gently biting my shoulder through my T-shirt. I love it when she bites me, but I’m not giving her that satisfaction yet. “But that doesn’t mean you get to stop kissing me. You have to multitask.”

One slim hand slides over my abs and past my belt to cup me through my jeans.

Damn. Not sure how long I can keep up this charade that I don’t want to screw her into the wall on the roof where anyone with half a telescope could see.

“Wow,” I say, keeping my tone unaffected, though she’s gotta feel me getting longer and harder in her hand. “Somebody’s horny as hell.”

She makes a sound that’s half outraged laughter, half indignant grunt before stepping around to stand in front of me by the grill.

“I will not be slut-shamed by my own boyfriend.” Amusement lights her eyes, turning them to quicksilver.

“Shamed?” I put down the grilling fork I’m using for the steaks and reach for her again. “No shame in being horny for me, baby. I wanna give you a gold star.”

Her eyes slide down to the erection poking her in the stomach. “Is that what we’re calling it now? Should we name it?”

“Guys who have to name their dicks probably aren’t using ’em right.”

“So I ask again . . . should we name it?”

I cock a brow and press our hips together.

“Are you implying that I don’t know how to use mine? Because that’s not the impression I got this morning when you came so hard you were singing like a bird.”

She tilts her head, her eyes wide and considering. “Did you say like a bird?” A small smile plays around her lips. “What made you say that?”

“I don’t know.” I give a careless shrug. “Why?”

“It’s silly,” she says, rolling her eyes in self-derision. “I was thinking today when I laughed it sounded like . . .”

Bristol blushes about once every Halley’s Comet, so the color washing across her cheeks makes me wonder.

“What?” I probe. “Your laugh sounded like what?”

“Like a happy bird,” she mumbles, peering up at me like I’m going to laugh in her face.

Which I do.

“Stop laughing at me.” She narrows her eyes in mock warning.

“Right.” I dip my head to catch her eyes and tease her. “Because when you tell me you laugh like a happy bird I’m just supposed let you get away with that.”

“I’m not telling you things anymore.” She narrows her eyes and folds her arms over her chest.

“Yeah, right. I’m your best friend.” I pull her back into me. “You’ll tell me everything like you always do.”

“You are, you know.” Her voice softens. “My best friend, I mean.”

When she looks at me like this, her eyes stripped of every defense, no guard in sight, completely honest and open and vulnerable, I feel slightly invincible. It’s a trick of the heart, I know, but I can’t help but think that as long as she looks at me like this, there isn’t anything I couldn’t survive, that our love is the stuff of legends, rolled in Teflon, disaster-proof. I’m as fanciful as Bristol, my laughing bird.

“You’re mine, too,” I echo her sentiment. “My best friend.”

“I won’t tell Rhyson,” she promises with a grin.

“I’m pretty sure he spits the same line to Kai.” I keep a straight face. “We have to say that shit to get laid.”

“I hate you.”

“Orrrrrrrrr do you love me and want to blow me after dinner?” I shrug and lift my hands, my palms up. “Just saying. Listen to your heart, Bristol. Listen to your heart.”

“I’m listening to my belly right now, smartass, and it’s growling. Feed me.”

“Like my mama used to say, ain’t no freeloaders in this house. What’ll you give me for feeding you?”

“Um . . .”

“I do have a suggestion, if you’re searching.”

“Let me guess—you have a ‘Will fuck for food’ sign up here somewhere?”

“I used bubble letters.” I laugh and give her ass a light smack. “You can barter that booty.”

It’s so damn easy with Bristol—our banter, the chemistry, the perfect rhythm of our conversation. It was one of the first things I noticed when we met all those years ago. We didn’t read each other’s minds or finish each other’s sentences. It wasn’t cosmic, but it was a connection that seized me by the brain and grabbed me by the balls. She was as smart as she was sexy, as curious as she was forthcoming. There were years in between when we made things complicated, when things were strained, but now with our hearts settled on each other for good, it’s simple.

Resisting an irresistible force wears you down and turns you out. I know. I’ve been doing it for years.

I may not have a musical gift of my own, but I’ve got a nose for talent and an eye for the extraordinary. And Marlon James – Grip to his fans – is nothing short of extraordinary.

Years ago, we strung together a few magical nights, but I keep those memories in a locked drawer and I’ve thrown away the key. All that’s left is friendship and work.

He’s on the verge of unimaginable fame, all his dreams poised to come true. I manage his career, but I can’t seem to manage my heart.

It’s wild, reckless, disobedient. And it remembers all the things I want to forget.

FLOW REVIEW:

I’m so glad I re-read this because I really enjoyed it even more this time. I’m surprised that I forgot so much of what happened in this novella, even about 6 months later! I originally started Flow with the intentions of immediately starting Grip and clearly that didn’t happen the first go around. But this time I’m ready to read Grip and I’m so excited!

GRIP REVIEW:

Man. Where do I even begin with this book?! One of my best book friends has been raving about this book for months and has been PUSHING me to read it. I’m surprised she didn’t drive to my house when I originally read Flow to force me to read Grip. ;)
Seriously. I’m already mad at myself for having waited this long to read it. This book was so much more than Grip and Bristol’s story. Something I’m now understanding especially after hearing my friend talk about this book and how much she absolutely adores it.
Seriously guys, if you haven’t read Flow/Grip yet, what are you doing with your life?!
Honestly, I think this is my first time reading an interracial love story. I don’t know why this was my first, but seriously. I can’t gush about this book enough. I’m dying to start Still and see what happens next with them! I’m glad this doesn’t end in a cliffhanger!

Excerpt

“Neither of us has been in a serious relationship in years.”

“That doesn’t mean anything.” I stand and slide my feet into the Jimmy Choos. “You haven’t exactly been waiting around, have you?”

“Damn right I haven’t been waiting around.” He doesn’t get up, but his firm hold on my wrist stops me from walking away. “I’m not Rhyson.”

I look down at him, frowning my confusion.

“What do you mean?”

“Remember when Kai put Rhyson in the friend zone?”

Of course I do. For a long time, my sister-in-law Kai denied the attraction between her and Rhyson.

“Yeah, so?”

“When Kai wasn’t checking for Rhys, I assumed he had to be sleeping with other girls.” Grip shrugs. “I mean, he and Kai were just friends. But, nope. He said he only wanted Kai and didn’t sleep with anyone else.”

“Then you’re right.” I tug at my wrist, but he holds on tight. “You’re definitely not Rhyson.”

“It was months, Bristol. She shut him out for months. Not years.”

“I’m not shutting you out.” I release a tired breath. “I’m living my life, and you’re living yours.”

“Right.” He nods and turns his mouth down at the corners. “So, if you won’t be with me, then I’ll fuck whoever the hell I want. If you have a problem with that, you know what to do about it.”

For a moment, our eyes tangle in the dimness. His words sink into my flesh like briars. Every word out of his mouth only proves that I’m right to get out of here. That I’m right not to give in. If I ever gave him a chance and he fucked around on me . . . I’ve seen what that looks like. It looks like a woman as strong as my mother reduced to pathetic, teary drunkenness.

“It’s none of my business.” I shift my eyes away from him and to the glittering city skyline just beyond the rooftop.

“It’s none of your business until you say it is.”

I force myself to look back.

“Don’t hold your breath, Grip.” I say my next words with deliberation. “I mean, it’s not like I’m sitting around saving it, either.”

He pulls me forward, and I press my hand to the hardness of his chest so I don’t fall into him. My knee supports me, pressed against his on the couch.

“Are you poking me?” One strong hand wraps around the back of my thigh, anger marking his expression. “Do you want to know if it bothers me when you fuck other guys?”

I just stare at him unblinkingly. He presses my leg, urging me forward until I’m fully on the couch, fully on him, one knee on either side of his legs, facing him. Straddling him.

“It makes me want to set the world on fire.” His words come softly, but the truth roars in his eyes. “To think of you with them.”

Blog Tour: Love Profound by Kelly Elliott

I write about love, but I’ve never experienced it. Sure, I’ve been with guys that I cared about. Even thought I found ‘the one’. He turned out to be the frog and not the prince.

A few Frank Sinatra songs and a wildly handsome cowboy who calls me Darlin’, will have me second guessing everything I ever thought I knew about love.

Does happily ever after really exist…or is it only something I write about in books?

Love Profound is book two in the Cowboys and Angels series.

MY REVIEW:

Seriously, Kelly has done it yet again. I flew through this book like a crazy person which happened for Lost Love as well. I don’t know what it is about this series, but I can’t stop reading. Seriously, though. Cowboys and the whole “darlin'” thing?! GETS. ME. EVERY. TIME. I’m a puddle. I just can’t with southern guys, I become a puddle of emotions.
Seriously, I know I keep saying “seriously” but I can’t even form coherent sentences when it comes to writing a review for Kelly’s books; every book I’ve read, I’ve swooned hard core. There’s not one book yet that I haven’t absolutely adored.
I can’t get over how much I love her stories and her southern men!!! I’m so excited to see the rest of the gang’s stories and how each of them will get their HEA. There is one character who, I won’t mention for spoiler reasons, but is in the beginning, who I’m very curious now for. Will they get an HEA? Will we see the character again? What was the significance in the character?! This character was so interesting and I love the part was played. I will forever be curious what happens!

Blog Tour: Until it Fades by K.A. Tucker

UIF_BlogTourButton

until-it-fades-9781501133381_hr

ABOUT UNTIL IT FADES:

Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania (population three thousand outside of tourist season).

And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed date, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has rescued: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling.

Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works. For a time.

But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. There’s an immediate connection, and it’s more electric than the bond of two people who endured a traumatic event. It’s something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something she is afraid to trust.

Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine…before the spark fades?

My Review:

This is my first time reading a romance book by KA Tucker. The only other book I’ve read by her was He Will Be My Ruin (which I loved!). So I knew going in that I’d probably enjoy this book as well, and I did. I couldn’t put the book down! I had to keep going!!

What immediately caught my attention about this book was a single mom. Now, I’m a sucker for these kinds of books so I was excited to see what this on was about! It’s not a heavy book, it’s pretty light and fun to read.

Now, this can definitely be classified as slow burn for sure. I just wanted to push Catherine and Brett together and just say “okay, now KISS!”.

Now I’m even more pushing myself to read her other books because I know for sure I’ll love those too. I absolutely love KA Tucker’s writing and I’ve heard so many rave that her writing is amazing as well in her others.

I adored this book! I’m gonna be thinking about this book for weeks to come because this is one that won’t leave my mind for a while.

Blog Tour: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

the-seven-husbands-of-evelyn-hugo-9781501139239_hr

ABOUT THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO:

Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one in the journalism community is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?

Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband, David, has left her, and her career has stagnated. Regardless of why Evelyn has chosen her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career.

Summoned to Evelyn’s Upper East Side apartment, Monique listens as Evelyn unfurls her story: from making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the late 80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way. As Evelyn’s life unfolds—revealing a ruthless ambition, an unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love—Monique begins to feel a very a real connection to the actress. But as Evelyn’s story catches up with the present, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways.

Written with Reid’s signature talent for “creating complex, likable characters” (Real Simple), this is a fascinating journey through the splendor of Old Hollywood into the harsh realities of the present day as two women struggle with what it means—and what it takes—to face the truth.

MY REVIEW:

Thank you to Simon and Schuster/Atria and NetGalley for providing an ARC for an honest review.

FAVORITE BOOK OF THE YEAR. This book is everything. I sobbed for a good 30 minutes for the last 10-15% of the book. This book was nothing like I expected it to be and it was everything I expected in a TJR book. This book was so much more than the seven husbands in her life and the romance, it was about her life and the struggles she went through. And let me tell you, it wasn’t an easy life for her.

You never know what route TJR will take with her stories. She always takes you by surprise and usually always leaves you hanging and wondering what is going to happen next.

I would classify this more as woman’s lit and not romance. I’m not one to read that genre, but since last night I have been SWEARING up and down by this book trying to get other friends to read it. (and failing miserably). I just want to tell them what happens so they will understand how much I loved this book. But I don’t want to spoil anything for them because it’ll just ruin the entire story. But how exactly do you push people to read this amazing book!? That is the question because I know a lot of people will adore this book like I did. Some may not like it and there’s nothing wrong with that! It’s still an amazing story from a VERY talented writer!

This is now my 3rd time reading one of her books and I’m still swearing by her books. Though, now this one takes the cake of the other 2 and is now one of my favorite books probably of all time. The other 2 books I’m referencing to is Maybe in Another Life and One True Loves. This book is so beautiful, so real, and very emotional. I cannot stress how much I need people to read this because this is just one of those everyone needs to read and you will see after reading. Promise.

Blog Tour: Shacking Up by Helena Hunting

shacking-up-helena-hunting-709x1024

I’ve read a couple of Helena’s books in the past and have loved them! This being no different. I love that there was still that humor that Helena is known for in this book because I was worried going in, the humor wouldn’t be there. I was wrong; because there were so many times I couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Or.. wanting to throw my Kindle and burn it because Bancroft has a FREAKING TARANTULA as a PET. Nope. Just nope. I praise Ruby because if it were me, the mention of even the tiniest spider has me running in the opposite direction for my life.

I also love the male characters Helena brings to life; they are always panty dropping material and Bancroft is definitely no exception to that.

This was definitely a slow burn type of book; but I promise it was worth it in the end. Just wait for Bancroft… I mean, that’s all you need right?! No further explanation!? LOOK AT THAT COVER!!!

I was also excited to see that this will not be the only book in this world; there will be a sequel that will follow (not sure on characters yet). I cannot wait to read the sequel whenever it releases!
