3. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead: Oh gosh, it’s been like 5 years since I read one of my all time favorite series… I miss Dimitri and Rose and everyone! I still need to catch up on Bloodlines, but hopefully soon! #TEAMDIMITRI!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books To Read To Get Into the Halloween Spirit

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is ‘Top Ten Books/Movies To Read Or Watch To Get In The Halloween Spirit’. This is is no particular order.

Halloween is just in 3 days and I’m really excited! I have always loved Halloween, I loved dressing up and going treat-or-treating as a kid! I LOVEEE watching Hocus Pocus, HalloweenTown and all those movies that would show on the kids stations when I was growing up. I always watch Hocus Pocus every year, it’s definitely my favorite! Now that I’m back in reading, I’ve made it a goal to read Halloween related books. However, this month I’ve totally sucked.. All I want is new adult, thanks Walking Disaster… But this would be my top 10 if I was actually in the mood!!

anna dressed in blood the body finder rot and ruin

1. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake: I will be starting this book (if not, I already have) by Halloween. This was one that I NEEDED to read. I own both books in the duology and will most likely read the 2nd one immediately after!

2. The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting: I bought this not too long ago and it would be PERFECT for Halloween. Unfortunately because of my new adult kick, this may have to wait until next year or some other time between now and then.

3. Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry: I bought this book last summer to read last Halloween… Did I do it? HAHA no. I’m terrible. Next year….

the devouring the fall hexed

4. The Devouring by Simon Holt: This book is extremely creepy (so I’ve heard) and is absolutely perfect! Again, maybe next year!

5. The Fall by Bethany Griffin: This recently released so I have an excuse.. Maybe next year! But really, this does sound incredibly interesting and a perfect read for October! Can’t wait to pick it up!

6. Hexed by Michelle Krys: I got an ARC of this forever ago on NetGalley, I’m terrible… I was planning on reading it this month, but hopefully I’ll still get to it soon! I’ve heard SOO many amazing things and I adore the hardcover edition!

alice in zombieland bad girls don't die they all fall down

7. Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter: Ohh boy, this is really high on my general TBR. The 3rd book in the trilogy just released and one of my good book friends is really pushing me to start this trilogy. I’ll probably be reading this before next Halloween, but would be a great Halloween read!

8. Bad Girls Don’t Die by Katie Alender: I recently (as in like last 4 months) discovered this book! I LOVE the cover! It sounds PERFECT for Halloween.. Again, hopefully next year!

9. They All Fall Down by Roxanne St. Claire: This JUST came out, but oh my gosh! THAT COVER! I IMMEDIATELY added it to my TBR when I saw the cover. Then I noticed it mentioned Pretty Little Liars which is one of my favorite shows (still on season 4, I’m far behind). But if it’s similar, HECK YES I WANNA READ IT! :D

the murder complex

10. The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings: I went to the signing, met her, been stalking this book FOREVER, STILL haven’t read it. Like seriously… I’m TERRIBLE! I WILL be reading this before next Halloween for sure, but it would have been a great book to read during the Halloween season!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Were Hard For Me To Read

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is ‘top ten characters who would be sitting at my lunch table’. This is is no particular order.

the-host broken beauty the queens choice

1. The Host by Stephenie Meyer: This is what started back up my love for reading last year in 2013. So it was difficult for me because it had been so long since I had last read. But, thankfully I absolutely ADORED this book and I can thank Stephenie Meyer (twice) for making me love reading so much! She is 100% responsible for starting my love for reading and bringing it back!

2. Broken Beauty by Lizzy Ford: The subject matter was very difficult for me. It’s one of those very touchy subjects- rape. But Lizzy Ford did an amazing job at making this a beautiful story (still need to continue)!

3. The Queen’s Choice by Cayla Cruver: Overall I had a very difficult time with this one… Yes, I overall enjoyed the book, but I just wasn’t jumping up and down dying to know what happened next. It was just a “bleh” read for me.

mind games the here and now bloodlines

4. Mind Games by Kiersten White: This was another I had trouble with. But I definitely had more trouble with this one… I didn’t care for the characters or what was going on. It was all too confusing to me and I didn’t like it too much.

5. The Here and Now by Ann Brashares: My memory of this book is very hazy… That’s how much I didn’t care for it. I know that’s a little harsh but it’s true. There was nothing special about this book, I couldn’t connect with the characters and I was confused the entire time!

6. Bloodlines by Richelle Mead: This is a different story… It’s been over 4 years since I last read the Vampire Academy series, so details have completely escaped me. Going back into this world after being gone from it for so long was very difficult for me for a while. Vampire Academy is one of my all time favorite series ever. The typical trend with both series is the books get better as they go on. So I know once I continue, it will only get better. ;)

the last policeman insurgent delirium

7. The Last Policeman by Ben H. Winters: My only big issue was the age difference. I’m not used to reading adult books, so reading from a guy’s point of view who’s in his 30’s was very difficult for me. I didn’t connect with him because I’m not close to his age so I don’t experience everything he’s going through (to an extent). But I overall really liked the story!

8. Insurgent by Veronica Roth: I was spoiled after reading Divergent, you’ve all heard me talk about this. I absolutely could not stand Tris in Insurgent. She was very annoying to me and I felt that she was ALWAYS arguing with Tobias… No matter what it was. They were fighting. Never happy. Ever. It annoyed me to no ends. Maybe that’s partly due to I knew the ending of Allegiant… But who knows!

9. Delirium by Lauren Oliver: I had the HARDEST time with the first half of this book. I was almost tempted to stop reading the book, I was so bored out of my mind! The ending definitely made up for the first half, but I’m not dying to pick up the second book (and it’s been a while now).

what i thought was true

10. What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick: I REALLY tried to like this book, I did. But it just didn’t work for me. I didn’t care for the characters and had a very difficult time connecting to them. This was my first book by her so I was a little nervous, but I’ve already read My Life Next Door and absolutely loved it!

pure stay with me tempting the best man

2. Pure (Covenant #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout: I recently read Half Blood about a month or 2 ago and I’m DYING to continue. JLA’s books are DRUGS TO ME! I AM NOT KIDDING! Plus, my goal for 2014 is to be up to date with her books. (Currently while on this post I’ve read 4 of the 21 I have left). These 3 above are my next highest reads by her (I still have Be With Me, but I’m starting it this week).

hopeless Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00071] real

5. Hopeless (Hopeless #1) by Colleen Hoover: Another one of my goals for the year (moreso end of year) is to read more new adult. Especially after Walking Disaster I’ve been in a HUGE new adult kick and all I want to read is those! So I’m making the remainder of the year focused on new adult! I have A LOT to read! This being one of those! :)

6. Lost and Found (Lost and Found #1) by Nicole Williams: I HAVE BEEN INFORMED FROM A GOOD BOOK BUDDY THAT THIS INVOLVES A COWBOY!!!!!!! LKJFSLKFJSG OH MY GOSH GUYS! IF YOU READ SOME OF MY REVIEWS (okay enough cap locks, got little excited ;) ) you’ll know I absolutely LOVE cowboys! Tucker from the Unearthly trilogy is the biggest contributor to my love for them. ;) Plus they are incredibly sexy! I’M SO EXCITED!!!!! :D

9. Sweet Filthy Boy (Wild Seasons #1) by Christina Lauren: Really… The title sounds interesting!!! :) AND IT’S NEW ADULT! REALLY!?!?! :D :D

10. Beautiful Oblivion (Beautiful #3) by Jamie McGuire: I LOVEEEE Beautiful Disaster/Walking Diaster!!!! I’m SOOO excited to see Trent’s love story! I absolutely loved him so much! SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!! :D

obsidian twilight unearthly

1. Katy, Daemon, and Dee from the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout: I LOVE KATY AND DAEMON SO MUCH! I don’t need any other reasons…. :) I adore Dee, she’s an amazing best friend and it would be awesome to have her at lunch with everyone!

2. Edward and Bella from Twilight by Stephenie Meyer: Again, one of my favorites. I absolutely ADORE this series so much so it only makes sense that these 2 would be coming! PLUS RENESMEE will come also!!! :D

3. Tucker from the Unearthly trilogy by Cynthia Hand: He’s a sexy cowboy and I love him so much! It would be a little weird with Daemon and Edward AND Tucker there… But ohh well. It will work! :) I would invite Clara, but there wasn’t enough room and I didn’t want her to sit on the ground. :)

the unbecoming of mara dyer branded 2

4. Mara and Noah from the Mara Dyer trilogy by Michelle Hodkin: I love this trilogy and I LOVE Mara and Noah a lot! It would be interesting to have them at the lunch table to say the least!

5. Cole and Lexi from Branded by Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki: Holy moly… These 2 have A LOT of sexual tension between the two so it might be a little weird with them at the table! :P But I LOVE those 2, so it will be okay! If Cole brings Zeus, I will be 200% happy, I love that dog so so much!
