Waiting on Wednesday (#51): The Prey by Tom Isbell

waiting on wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme created by Breaking the Spine in which on Wednesdays you post a book that you are waiting to be released.

This week I’m featuring a book that looks very similar to The Maze Runner (which I read in 2014 and really enjoyed). Though, this isn’t like that trilogy. It sounds incredible!

the preyThe Prey by Tom Isbell
Series: The Hatchery #1
Publishing by: HarperTeen on January 20th 2015
Genre: Dystopia, Science Fiction, Young Adult
Pages: 416

A hot debut trilogy and a riveting story of survival, courage, and romance in a future where creating a master civilization is the only thing prized, no matter the method. After the Omega (the end of the end), 16 year old guys known as LTs discover their overseers are raising them not to be soldiers (lieutenants) as promised, but to be sold as bait because of their Less Than status and hunted for sport. They escape and join forces with a girls’ camp, the Sisters, who have been imprisoned and experimented on for the “good of the Republic,” by a government eager to use twins in their dark research. In their plight for freedom, these heroes must find the best in themselves to fight against the worst in their enemies.

Sounds awesome right?! Well, the reviews so far on Goodreads from those that received advanced copies are making me nervous! Hopefully it’s still worth the read! It sounds like something amazing that I’d really enjoy!

See you guys with my next anticipated book or next post!

A chance meeting has these two instantly attracted to one another, but when their paths cross again—this time as professor and student—the roles reverse on Professor Edwards as Caleb teaches her how to feel again.

This sounds like a fantastic read! I feel like I might shed some tears! Plus the cover is lovely! Can’t wait to get my hands on this!

To fight her destiny as the missing heir to a powerful and dangerous secret society, sixteen-year-old Avery West must solve an ancient puzzle in a deadly race across Europe. Forbidden love and code-breaking, masked balls and explosions, destiny and dark secrets collide in this romantic thriller, in the vein of a YA DaVinci Code.

Avery West’s newfound family can shut down Prada at the Champs-Elysees when they want to shop in peace, and can just as easily order a bombing when they want to start a war.

They are part of a powerful and dangerous secret society called the Circle of Twelve, and Avery is their missing heir. If they discover who she is, some of them will want to use her as a pawn. Some will want her dead.

To thwart their plans, Avery must follow a trail of clues from the landmarks of Paris to the back alleys of Istanbul and through a web of ancient legends and lies. And unless she can stay one step ahead of beautiful, volatile Stellan, who knows she’s more than she seems, and can decide whether to trust mysterious, magnetic Jack, she may be doomed after all.

See what I mean?! It sounds amazing!! Can’t wait to get my hands on this stunning book! :D

Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of fourteen. Complete strangers since this morning.
He’ll do anything to remember. She’ll do anything to forget.

This will be on everyone’s W.O.W. post. I mean come on, really!? IT’S COLLEEN HOOVER!!! I can’t really say much seeing as though I’ve only read one of her books and that was Slammed (which I ADORED by the way). But I’m definitely excited! I’m slowly becoming like everyone in owning all her books. At the point when I’ve made this post, I own 6 of her books (one being an e-book). This synopsis sounds sooo interesting and I need it NOW!

I haven’t read her trilogy: The Trylle trilogy yet, but I own all 3 and it’s definitely high up on my TBR pile! Why haven’t I read it yet? Haha, because too many books!!! :)

She has just one goal: become a member of the elite King’s Guard to protect the royal family. She’s not going to let anything stand in her way, not even a forbidden romance with her boss Ridley Dresden.

But all her plans for the future are put on hold when Konstantin– a fallen hero she once loved – begins kidnapping changelings. Bryn is sent in to help stop him, but will she lose her heart in the process?

I REALLY like that she used the same type of cover design! I absolutely LOVE the Trylle trilogy covers and I’m so happy that this series will be similar. The cover is absolutely beautiful and it’s definitely what caught my eye in the first place! This book/series sounds incredibly interesting and definitely something I would love! I’m beyond excited to get my hands on this and especially put this on my bookshelf!

The second installment in the epic Starbound trilogy introduces a new pair of star-crossed lovers on two sides of a bloody war.

Jubilee Chase and Flynn Cormac should never have met.

Lee is captain of the forces sent to Avon to crush the terraformed planet’s rebellious colonists, but she has her own reasons for hating the insurgents.

Rebellion is in Flynn’s blood. Terraforming corporations make their fortune by recruiting colonists to make the inhospitable planets livable, with the promise of a better life for their children. But they never fulfilled their promise on Avon, and decades later, Flynn is leading the rebellion.

Desperate for any advantage in a bloody and unrelentingly war, Flynn does the only thing that makes sense when he and Lee cross paths: he returns to base with her as prisoner. But as his fellow rebels prepare to execute this tough-talking girl with nerves of steel, Flynn makes another choice that will change him forever. He and Lee escape the rebel base together, caught between two sides of a senseless war.

I really am sad that we won’t see more of Lilac and Tarver’s story. I need more to their story!!! That last 100 pages or so really messed with me! It’s been almost a year since I’ve read it and I still remember exactly what happened and what I was doing. However, I really am excited to see the next two characters! This world is just sooo interesting and can’t wait to see what happens next!!! :D

Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE LIKE NOW! I’m so stoked to see this world! On top of that it’s a paranormal new adult! :D NEW ADULT! She is QUEEN for steamy, swoon-worthy scenes!!!!! :D :D SOOOO EXCITED BEYOND WORDS!

A summer road trip changes everything in this unforgettable new tale from acclaimed author Katie McGarry

For new high school graduate Echo Emerson, a summer road trip out west with her boyfriend means getting away and forgetting what makes her so… different. It means seeing cool sights while selling her art at galleries along the way. And most of all, it means almost three months alone with Noah Hutchins, the hot, smart, soul-battered guy who’s never judged her. Echo and Noah share everything — except the one thing Echo’s just not ready for.

But when the source of Echo’s constant nightmares comes back into her life, she has to make some tough decisions about what she really wants — even as foster kid Noah’s search for his last remaining relatives forces them both to confront some serious truths about life, love, and themselves.

Now, with one week left before college orientation, jobs and real life, Echo must decide if Noah’s more than the bad-boy fling everyone warned her he’d be. And the last leg of an amazing road trip will turn… seriously epic.

I’m so excited, yet so nervous about this book! I know it’s a love story and typically the couples stay together… But that synopsis makes me nervous! SO EXCITED FOR MORE ECHO AND NOAH THOUGH!!! :D :D

Morgan Pritchett doesn’t need anyone. Strong-willed and confident, she’s the master of organizing and looking after everyone around her. In her mind, she’s bulletproof. But she has one weakness – men. She can’t seem to live without them, yet is unable to find her perfect match. After yet another break up, Morgan promises her sister and best friend that she’ll write off men for the rest of the year. But then she meets Sean Tate.

Sean Tate has worked hard to become a Hollywood actor, scoring minor roles and slowly making a name for himself as an action sidekick. After a chance encounter with the stunning Morgan Pritchett, he decides to take a risk and put his dancing skills to the test by signing on for the lead role in Superstar, a TV musical. He never thought he’d reconnect with the girl who urged him to ignore his manager and be honest with himself, but when Morgan shows up on the set as a production assistant, he realizes he’s found his ultimate weakness — her.

Their passion for dance and music will bring them together, but will their relationship be able to withstand the forces determined to pull them apart? As Morgan comes face to face with her demons and Sean decides just how much he’s willing to risk for love, these two lovers discover something… they’re not as bulletproof as they thought.

I absolutely loved Morgan’s character in Fever and I’m so excited to see her love story! She was absolutely hilarious in the first book so I can’t wait to see her dialogue and what she thinks! PLUS THESE COVERS ARE SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!! CAN’T WAIT!!!!

til death‘Til Death by Bella Jewel

Publishing by: Self-Published on November 25th 2014
Genre: Contemporary, Contemporary Romance, Romance, Adult

I married a douchebag.

It’s my own fault, really. He came in like a handsome stranger and blew me off my feet. I fell madly in love, like the naive girl I am.

Then he left me high and dry.

Turns out, I was nothing more than a business plan for billionaire playboy, Marcus Tandem. He needed to be married to obtain his grandfathers business, and I was the poor victim in his path. I thought we had something real, I believed it was special until the truth reared its ugly head.

I never meant anything to Marcus. Not a damned thing.

Five years on and my life has been a struggle. Left with nothing, I’ve had to work myself into the ground to clean up my debts and take care of my sick mother, as well as trying to divorce a man that refuses contact with me.

Five years is a lot of time to plot the perfect revenge.

What my dear husband didn’t count on, is that fact that I was smarter than I looked. After all, what married couple doesn’t take out a life insurance policy? If he dies. I get five million dollars.

Of course, Marcus doesn’t know about it.

One drunken night just after I left made sure of that. My mother is unwell, she can’t pay for treatment. And I’m a bitter woman. I’ve been the joke of Marcus Tandem for five years while I’ve formed the perfect plan. Now it’s my turn.

I have to kill him.

Oh yes, Marcus will pay for what he did. I made a vow before God, that I would be by his side ‘Til death do we part.

I plan to keep that vow.

Okay, this book sounds intense and extremely good! I hope I’ll like it. I mean now really… That cover though… ;) Can’t wait to read this!
