It’s time.

Evil is running rampant and sweet Anna Whitt is its target. Nobody knows when or how the Dukes will strike, but Anna and her Nephilim allies will do anything necessary to rid the earth of the demons and their oppressive ways.

The stakes are higher than ever, and Anna is determined that the love she feels will be her strength, not a liability. But trying to protect the ones she loves while running for her life and battling demonic forces proves to be perilous—especially as faces are changing and trust is fleeting. When the Duke of Lust sends Anna’s great love, Kaidan Rowe, to work against her, Anna must decide how much she’s prepared to risk.

In the most sensual and fast-paced installment yet, Sweet Reckoning brings all the beloved Neph together one last time to fight for their freedom.

my thoughts 2

Couldn’t have asked for a better ending, it was perfect! I adore this trilogy so much and I’m sad to see it go. But I love getting to know and love a bunch of these characters! I did shed some happy and sad tears while reading.

I won’t give a synopsis since this is the final book and not everyone has read this trilogy yet.

The action and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time while reading. The book immediately takes off where Sweet Peril left off and does not give you time to think “oh gosh, this is the last book”. No, it hits the ground running and not letting you stop for a break. I had a very difficult time putting it down.

Anna has become a favorite character of mine. She is so much like I am as a person and over the course of the trilogy, she has become such a strong woman. Of all characters and books I’ve read, Anna is the most relatable to me and my most loved character. Kaidan on the other hand is one of my all time favorite book boyfriends. Dear gosh, that man. Complete bad boy package and a complete sweetheart! I adore his character and how much he has changed as well. When we first see Kaidan, he’s not exactly someone you want to deal with. His dad is the Duke of Adultery, so with that said, you may not like what happens the next morning. But, oh boy did that completely change!!

I adored all the Neph that Anna became close to: Marna, Ginger, Blake, Kope, Z, and her mortal friend, Jay. Of course, I loved her step-mother, Patti as well. I adored this whole family and could definitely consider them one. This is definitely a trilogy I’ll never forget and will always have a special place in my heart.

Fantastic trilogy, recommend to anyone!

The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.

Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California – and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.

As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfill her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.

In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all.

my thoughts 2

I wanna cry… This was an absolute fantastic ending to one of my all time favorite trilogies! I’m a hardcore Tucker fan that’s for sure! If you have me on Goodreads as a friend, you probably saw how much I updated my progress.. I fangirled just a little. :)

07/29 page 114 25.0% “I WANT TUCKER!!!!! :((“
07/29 page 132 29.0% “weird… 2 books with the same situation… how does this happen?”
07/29 page 244 54.0% “TUCKER! TUCKER! TUCKER! TUCKER!!!!”
07/29 page 251 56.0% “I CANT! I CANT! I CANT!!!! OH MY LORD♥♥♥”
07/30 page 314 70.0% “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! “

See what I mean? :)

So I’m not going to go into detail about what happens in this considering it is the last one in the series and I don’t want to spoil it for anyone that hasn’t already read this trilogy. Just know, it was a fantastic ending to the trilogy and couldn’t have been done better! I adored the ending and I was literally grinning extremely big and was probably jumping up and down a little. My boyfriend kept looking at me like I had completely lost my marbles while reading. I would literally laugh out loud at some parts or say my feelings out loud.

Words cannot describe my love for this trilogy… And Tucker. :)

I do wish there would be more books to the trilogy because I want to see everyone’s life after Boundless. Well that, and I want more Tucker.

There were so many plot twists that I did not see coming and I’m sure my heart was racing a lot of the time. I had a VERY difficult time putting the book down. Had I not been reading other books and working, I probably could have finished this in one sitting. I absolutely love Cynthia Hand’s writing style and Clara’s personality. Her sarcasm and attitude was perfect and easy to relate with. Well, not so much being an angel, but you get my point. It was very easy to connect with these characters and fall in love with a bunch of them! A lot of tears- happy and sad- were shed throughout this trilogy. Even though this does feature a love triangle, it is one that is done perfectly and that doesn’t get annoying. Well, it could, especially with how much I love Tucker, but just know it was a little hard at times for me not to fall for Christian as well. He’s a great guy as well, but just Tucker… I will always choose Tucker over Christian.

For months Clara Gardner trained to face the fire from her visions, but she wasn’t prepared for the choice she had to make that day. And in the aftermath, she discovered that nothing about being part angel is as straightforward as she thought.

Now, torn between her love for Tucker and her complicated feelings about the roles she and Christian seem destined to play in a world that is both dangerous and beautiful, Clara struggles with a shocking revelation: Someone she loves will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

In this compelling sequel to Unearthly, Cynthia Hand captures the joy of first love, the anguish of loss, and the confusion of becoming who you are.

Clara is in her senior year now. She should be worrying about what she’s going to wear to prom and about graduation, but that the very last thing on her mind. She now understands what her new purpose is and will do anything to keep it from happening.

We are confronted with a character we’d never thought we’d see again.

She’s battling her feelings for Tucker and Christian. She loves Tucker very, very much but she can’t hide her feelings for Christian.

my thoughts 2

Holy cow guys! I was a little nervous for a while that this wasn’t going to be as good as Unearthly, but I was totally wrong!! Literally the only thing that kept me from bawling my eyes out last night while finishing the book was that I was at my boyfriend’s house. It would have been a little awkward if I started crying while reading a book, well at least it is for me. I’m a VERY emotional person and I get teary eyed very quickly. I did however, get teary eyed, but I forced myself not to cry. Trust me, if I was at my house I would have been crying my eyes out.

This book was so much more fantastic than Unearthly! I can’t get over how much I really enjoyed this book. I’m a little nervous to read Boundless after what happened in the end. I promise I won’t spoil anything. :) But, I did order the book and when it comes, I will be reading it ASAP.

I adore every single character in this trilogy. I love each character for a different reason. I’ll go over a couple. :)

I love Clara because she’s SO strong despite what’s going on throughout Hallowed! She holds her head up and continues on without just stopping and completely giving up on herself! She’s not like normal YA characters in a love triangle. She is fighting her feelings for Christian– which I’m Team Tucker BTW–.

I love Tucker because he’s Tucker. I don’t need anymore explanation. I LOVE Tucker so so much. I love the whole southern country boy thing. I love how he’s a COMPLETE sweetheart and a ladies man! I. JUST. LOVE. TUCKER!

I love Angela and Wendy because they are such great friends to Clara. Angela is there for Clara more because she knows exactly what Clara is going through,–SPOILER FROM UNEARTHLY— because she’s an angel also. — Not a spoiler if you’ve read Unearthly–.

I love Christian because he’s waiting for Clara! He broke up with Kay to be with Clara! I’m still Team Tucker, but I do love Christian… Just not as much as Tucker. ;) He’s so sweet and has always been there for her, no matter what. That’s what I love about him.

I’m so beyond excited to pick up Boundless and I don’t want to have to wait until Monday– possibly Tuesday– to read it. But I guess I don’t have a choice.

“Hi there,” Tucker says brightly, like we’re bumping into each other on the street.
“Uh, hi.”
“Nice night for stalking,” he observes.
“No, I was—”
“Get your butt in here, Carrots.”– page 139

“Okay, that was, I have to say, about the cheesiest thing I ever heard in my life,” I say to Angela as we’re milling around afterward. We hug, so Billy can take our picture. “I mean, seriously. Just be? You should write ads for Nike.”–page 393

In the beginning, there’s a boy standing in the trees . . . .
Clara Gardner has recently learned that she’s part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn’t easy.

Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place and out of place at the same time. Because there’s another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara’s less angelic side.

As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she’d have to make between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.

Clara thinks she’s a normal, 16 year old girl living in California. Little does she know she has angel-blood. One day Clara has a vision in which she sees a boy in the forest; she doesn’t know what his face looks like. She just knows it’s a boy. She tells her mother and they pack and move to Wyoming where this vision takes place. This is why she’s here, she has a purpose to fulfill.

While moving in and starting at her new school, she gets more detailed visions. She comes face to face with two boys- Christian (the “it” boy, everyone knows and loves him) and Tucker (the country boy).

all time favorite

(I’m adding these now to books that I love). I’ll be adding a section on my blog featuring the books that are on my “All Time Favorite” list.

I IMMEDIATELY wanted to second one.. I finished this about a week ago and thank gosh the second book- Hallowed is coming in the mail tomorrow. I loved every aspect of this book! The world, the characters, the plot.. Everything! I was immediately drawn into the story from the first paragraph and I knew I’d love this book. The only other angel related book I’ve read was Angelfall and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED it!

This book is fairly fast paced, I had a very hard time putting it down. I ended up reading it in 2 days. I like how the story wasn’t rushed and I REALLY enjoyed the plot twists. The conversation that Clara and her mom had at one point (I have a quote from it below) is hysterical. I found myself at times literally “laughing at loud”. All the characters– especially Tucker and Clara– have a sarcastic side and it makes the story that much more enjoyable!

Tucker… Holy cow. I love that man! I think because of the whole southern thing he has is what drew me in. He’s VERY attractive (well in Clara’s eyes) and he’s a complete sweetheart. I also loved Angela and Wendy; they were awesome friends. I think I liked Angela more if I had to pick though. She was there more for Clara than Wendy was. She was more understanding (I guess) of Clara.

If you have not read this series, I HIGHLY recommend it! It’s so fantastic and such a fun read! The whole reason in which it makes it better is Tucker. ;)

Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM SWEET EVIL. If you have not read Sweet Evil, I’d consider not reading this.

After the very close call at the Summit, Anna and Kaidan are forced to go separate ways. Anna in Sweet Evil was very innocent, but in Sweet Peril she’s the life of the party. But, seeing as she’s the Daughter of Belial (Duke of drugs and alcohol) she has to keep up her act and make people drink. She is visited by a character and has been told what she is supposed to do. She is to travel around around the world with Kopano (Kope for short) collecting allies when the time is right. Kaidan is almost absent for the majority of the book seeing as he’s across the United States, but after the first half of the book he is brought back in FULL FORCE.

We were introduced to some great new characters and got to see some of the previous characters in Sweet Evil develop more. We didn’t get to see much of Jay and Veronica though. The most prominent character that we see is Kope.

my thoughts 2

I read this along with a friend from BookTube, Suna @ kiwilover25. For the last half of the book I was constantly tweeting her on Twitter about the book and absolutely fangirling hardcore. I had a VERY hard time putting this book down. If you don’t count Friday (which I didn’t read at all), it only took me 2 days to read this book. I read over 3/4’s of the book yesterday.

I would consider picking a day where you don’t have much planned to read this book. I can promise you might have a hard time putting the book down like I did.

I don’t think I’ve fangirled that hard over a book in a LONG time. This is DEFINITELY one of my all time favorite series hands down. It’s VERY close to the Twilight Saga and The Hunger Games trilogy. I can not stress how much I adored this book. I’m really glad Suna talked me into reading this together because had she not have said anything I would have pushed the book back. I now have to wait 4 more months to see Kaidan, which really stinks because he’s on the VERY tip top of my list of fictional boyfriends. If you thought he was hot in Sweet Evil, oh man. Be ready for some fangirling. He’s extremely hot in Sweet Peril!

favorite quotes

“I love you,” I whispered.

“I’ve loved you longer,” he said.”

“Ready to s-snuggle?” he asked Kaidan, a slight clatter in his voice. Only Blake could joke on a night like this and get away with it.
Kaidan shook his head and undressed down to his boxers, too, the tension finally shedding away from his frame. “I swear, mate. If I feel something poke me in the back. . .”
Blake’s laugh was dry. “I’m pretty sure my junk froze off, man, so don’t worry.”

“I was more myself with you during those three days than I’ve ever been with anyone in my life. It’d be easier if I could be fake with you, but you bring out everything in me, little Ann. All of it.”

It’s been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels’ stronghold in San Francisco where she’ll risk everything to rescue her sister and he’ll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

Recommended for ages 16 and up.

Our main character, Penryn who is 17 years old has a younger sister, Paige–who is disabled– and a mom who is insanely crazy. No, I’m not kidding, her mom is seriously crazy… Anyhow, within a six week period, angels of the apocalypse have come down to destroy the world. It’s survival of the fittest. You are scrounging for food–some will even eat pet food!– and fighting for survival. During the day, street gangs rule the streets and during the night the angels rule. It has become a “game” that of who can find an angel, they will be rewarded for it.

One day while changing their locations, Penryn, Paige and their mother witness something they weren’t supposed to see. This ultimately ends with Paige being taken away and an angel called, Raffe having his wings–graphically– cut off. Penryn realizes Raffe is the only “person” that can help find Paige. She then realizes her mom has disappeared and Penryn is left with Raffe. Penryn and Raffe travel through Northern California searching for answers for both Paige and Raffe. Their answers are in San Francisco, but it isn’t that simple.  They are both tested upon what they believe and what they are willing to risk to get what they want.

My Thoughts:

WOW! Just… WOW! I COULD NOT put this book down! I kept studying for about 15 minutes, then picking the book up for about 30-45 minutes, study again, read again… I can not get over how much I LOVED this book! I finished this book–technically– within 24 hours, it was THAT good.

Penryn is an amazing bad ass character. She doesn’t let guys drag her down, which was refreshing to read. Her focus throughout the story was finding Paige and her mom. Of course she finds guys attractive and everything, but she doesn’t let that bring her guard down from finding them.

Raffe and the other Angels are so interesting to read about! There wasn’t a boring part in this book, there was always something going on that made you want to keep reading. The chapters are fairly short and each chapter leaves off with you wanting more.

Susan Ee’s world and writing was so breath-taking! Penryn, as well as other characters are ones that you instantly fall for and love.

Favorite Quotes:

“My friends call me Wrath,” says Raffe. “My enemies call me Please Have Mercy. What’s your name, soldier boy?”

“It is not the gentle kiss of a couple on a first date, nor is it the kiss of a man driven by simple lust. He kisses me with the desperation of a dying man who believes the magic of eternal life is in this kiss.”

“I never kid about my warrior demigod status.”
“Oh. My. God.” I lower my voice, having forgotten to whisper. “You are nothing but a bird with an attitude. Okay, so you have a few muscles, I’ll grant you that. But you know, a bird is nothing but a barely evolved lizard. That’s what you are.”

Embrace the Forbidden

What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences?

This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.
Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but it isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He’s the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?

Okay, hold on…

girl #fangirling

WOW! This book!!! Guys, if you have not yet read this book, please go pick it up now! It’s absolutely AMAZING! I flew through this book in 3 days– it would have been faster if I didn’t have college and work.

Anna is the daughter of a demon and a guardian angel which is very rare in this world. Before Anna turned sixteen she had no idea who she was, but soon after her birthday she finally finds out. Anna’s birth mom died when Anna was born and her dad was arrested shortly after. She was adopted as a little girl and has a very strong relationship with her step-mother who she treats as her real mom.

Anna isn’t your typical teenage girl going out on the weekends with friends to parties and drinking and all that whatnot. She is a “goody goody” and doesn’t do anything bad. She doesn’t smoke, she doesn’t drink, nothing. Anna isn’t like most protagonists, which I didn’t really expect.

Anna is 100% like I am… I couldn’t believe how similar I am to her, excluding the obvious. She’s exactly how I am and I would act the same way she did throughout the book. Anna is a shy, good girl and tends to get a little emotional at times. She doesn’t have too many friends and those she does have, stay very close to her. She comes face-to-face with our main male character, Kaidan– who is a “bad boy” drummer in a band. Anna of course, just like any other girl, starts to fall for Kaidan.

Kaidan, our main male, is just, WOW! He’s incredibly hot and he’s bad boy. He’s the son of Pharzuph, who is the Duke of lust. To make Kaidan’s dad happy and do his daily job, I’m sure you can get where I’m going as to what Kaidan’s job is… He knows how to make a girl fall for him… In bed… Okay, yes, sex. Kaidan is very attractive and sexy, he does also have a heart. He hides what he’s feeling and doesn’t let people see it. This bothered me at times because I would find myself wanting to pull my hair out wanting to know what he was thinking.

Wendy Higgins’ writing and the world she built was confusing at first. It was hard to remember all the Dukes, demons, and what was going on. After a couple chapters it got easier and I was able to remember each Duke and whatnot.

There’s a pretty big cliff-hanger and I’m really glad the second one, Sweet Peril is already out because I probably would have gone crazy…

“I assure you she’ll be in good hands.”
“Mm-hm, that’s part of what I’m worried about.” She pointed at his hands. “Hands off, mister.”

“Good gracious, he was sexy—a word that had not existed in my personal vocabulary until that moment. This guy was sexy like it was his job or something.”
