My Reading Stack (#14)

reading stackThe 2 books I finished this week were AMAZING! All time favorites!!! So let’s get started! :D

What I Finished:

sweet obsession sacrifice

  • Sweet Obsession by J. Daniels: (Click on the picture of the book to view my full review) oh my god. I’ve been dying for Brooke’s book since I read the original 2 Sweet books early this year. At first, I wasn’t a big fan when she was introduced, but she quickly became one of my favorites in Addiction and Possession. I knew her story was going to be tough for her considering her character. I loved when Mason was introduced in Bama Boys. At that point, I already knew he was getting a story so I was already excited. But to see them together in this story combining both series, I adored it. I love that we got to see some of the Bama characters in this! I love how this played out and I will be honest… I wanted to strangle both characters come the 88-90% percent mark. :P
    • FINAL STAR RATING: ☆☆☆☆☆
  • Sacrifice by Adriana Locke: I was sooo close to chunking my Kindle across the room. The last 12% felt like I was on the verge of cardiac arrest. My heart was beating like crazy waiting to see what was going to happen! I love the way it ended – despite almost chunking my Kindle… I didn’t expect to fall in love with this book as much as I did. To the point of this being on my top favorite books of the year. I knew by the 1/3rd mark, it was going to be a favorite. I adored this book so much! I will have more in depth on my review when I have time to process my feelings. My full review will be up on my blog. I’m really looking forward to more of Adriana Locke’s books!!

What I’m Currently Reading:

a shattered heart after we collided meant for her

A Shattered Heart will be finished after my test today! :D I’m in love with this book so much! Tiffany King has become a favorite author of mine this year! This is now my fourth book by her and I can’t get enough! Both After We Collided and Meant for Her have been put on the back-burner for some time now due to review books. I have been SWAMPED with review books and until I can make a dent in it, these are put on the back-burner. Well, actually Meant for Her IS a review book, but I have a couple books that have specific dates to have read and reviewed by. ;) I’m not that far into it, but so far it hasn’t wowed me enough to want to pick it back up. :( I hope it gets better when I pick it up again; the synopsis sounded promising!

What’s on the Agenda for the Week:

alexa loved broken the hazards of a one night stand

I’m actually going to sit down today after my test to look at what my review books are and if they have a date to review by. If I’m right, these are my next 3 books! Alexa Loved does have a date to be reviewed by and Broken and The Hazards of a One Night Stand don’t. But, they were sent to me quite a while ago and they need to be read and reviewed soon. ;) I’m very excited for all 3 of these books and can’t wait to dive into them! :D

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, J. Daniels.

Author’s Note: Sweet Obsession can be read as a standalone novel.

Everyone knows Brooke Wicks loves to have a good time. She’s not interested in getting serious, settling down, or limiting herself to one man. So when she meets the sexy, irresistible Mason King, she sees another opportunity to let loose and go wild. But the gorgeous Aussie isn’t interested in just a quick fling with Brooke, and if she wants to get into his bed, she’s going to have to do it on his terms.

Loving fast and hard has always been Mason’s philosophy. He doesn’t want a meaningless connection, he wants it all, and he wants it with Brooke. When she makes her one desire known—to hit it and quit it—Mason wages a plan to ensure Brooke keeps coming back for more. Or so he hopes.

Getting her attention was the easy part. Keeping it might be damn near impossible.

Sweet Obsession is where the Sweet Addiction series meets the Alabama Summer series.

what i thought

I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review from the author. It does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

If you guys follow me on some platform- Instagram, Goodreads, here on my blog or even Twitter, you’ll know how obsessed I have become over J. Daniels books. I read Sweet Addiction and Sweet Possession early this year and immediately fell in love!

I’ve been dying for Brooke’s book since I read the original 2 Sweet books early this year. At first, I wasn’t a big fan when she was introduced, but she quickly became one of my favorites in Sweet Addiction and Sweet Possession. I knew her story was going to be tough for her considering her character. Brooke works at Dylan’s Sweet Tooth (A.K.A. Dylan the girl who Sweet Addiction and Sweet Possession follows) making cupcakes. Not only does she love working there, she also loves sex. She doesn’t waste time getting what she wants, she goes after them as soon as they notice her.

Mason King has moved to Chicago to open up his own yoga studio. Ohh, did I mention hot yoga? :) Dylan’s Sweet Tooth happens to be right across the street from Mason’s studio and Brooke comes in to introduce herself. She’s only in for one thing, and that is sex with Mason King. Mason doesn’t just want sex with her, so he tries to convince her to go out on dates.

I love that this was very character driven. It wasn’t based upon the sexual tension between Mason and Brooke. Let me tell you, there’s A LOT of it going on for sure. But I loved that we got to see more of their characters and the relationship that came out of it. This is also a big reason why I love J. Daniels books. Not only does she write about extremely sexy, swoon-worthy men that can’t possibly be real, she develops the characters so beautifully! I always fall in love with all her characters!!

I highly, highly recommend this book! That, and all her books. This is a stand-alone, however it continues after Dylan’s story, so if you haven’t read her books, you will be spoiled in what happens for hers.

My Reading Stack (#13)

reading stackSo I’ve had a pretty good reading week- I’m reading some awesome books at the moment and I finished some amazing ones as well! :D So let’s start with what I finished during the week…

the moment of letting go when i fall

  • The Moment of Letting Go by J.A. Redmerski: I was really worried come the halfway mark because I felt it wasn’t as good as the Edge of Never. but ohhhh was I wrong in the second half! I adored this book (of course). I loved the meaning behind the book, finding yourself again and letting go. I ADORED this book. I can’t say it’s one of my favorite books for the year, but it’s definitely a solid 5 stars. I originally by the second half was at a 4-4.5 star rating. The second half really hits everything, to the sadness to the happiness. The second half was AH-MAZ-ING! J.A. Redmerski is a very talented writer, this being my 2nd book I’ve read by her. she doesn’t disappoint when it comes to a good romance. She doesn’t dwell on all the sex scenes, but focuses on the real message of the story. That’s one of the reasons why I like her books so much. Definitely recommend!
    • FINAL STAR RATING: ☆☆☆☆☆
  • When I Fall by J. Daniels: ohh dear god… I adore J.’s books so much! I can’t believe I’ve read almost all her books this year! (about to start sweet obsession!) Her books are seriously like drugs, I can’t get enough. Of course Ben tops everyone, but I’m now at the point where I don’t know who is second… Luke or Reed. I adored Beth’s character – but I’m sure all of us book lovers do. ;) I adored their story so much! Theirs is so different from Mia/Ben’s and Luke/Tessa’s! I loved this book to pieces! got teary eyed in several spots; the epilogue destroyed my heart. Because it isn’t already damaged enough! :) love these books, love J. Daniels. Can’t recommend her books enough!
    • FINAL STAR RATING: ☆☆☆☆☆

What I’m Currently Reading:

sacrifice sweet obsession after we collided

I had to put Sacrifice on the back-burner until Sweet Obsession was finished (I’m halfway as I’m writing this post) but it will be finished today and my review will be up tomorrow (Monday). I was contacted by the lovely, J. Daniels earlier this week wanting to see if I’d like to review it for her and of course, I had to. I adore her books and after this book, I will be completely caught up with hers. I adore her writing and the characters she had made! After We Collided is still, unfortunately, on the back-burner. I’m completely swamped with review books at the moment that books like this one have to wait until I’m caught up. Which stinks, because I’ve been dying to continue this book.

On the Agenda for Next Week:

alexa loveda shattered heart broken

The first 2 will be read for sure next week because those have specific dates I need to have them reviewed by. I don’t have a date for Broken, but it is one of my next review books. I had originally planned to read and review this week, but with an unexpected review (Sweet Obsession), I had to throw it on the back-burner until this week. Hopefully I can get to it-I’m really looking forward to it!

Well, that’s all I got this week! See you next week! :)

My Reading Stack (#11)

reading stackfifty shades darker the hazards of skinny dipping where we belong

I did okay this week with what I’ve finished… School starts next week for me and even though I’m only taking 3 classes this semester, I don’t know how demanding it will be. I’ve changed majors and this is my first semester within the education classes. I could have quite a bit of free time, or I might not. Not sure. I will know by next week kind of what the next couple of months will look like for me. I’m just hoping for some free time-last semester (spring) I didn’t have ANY free time, but that was because I was still pursuing nursing..

  • Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James: Holy crap, it’s been 3 years since I read this trilogy and i thought I remembered alot. Wow, I forgot so much that happened in this book. It’s like I was reading it for the first time! I think I’ve fallen in love with Christian even more now. I’m hoping to re-read the last book this week too.
    • FINAL STAR RATING: ☆☆☆☆☆
  • The Hazards of Skinny Dipping by Alyssa Rose Ivy: I received a review copy in exchange for my honest opinion. as of now, this is not my full review, that will come soon. This is just my thoughts immediately after finishing…

I adored this. Yes, it was predictable and not what I expected. But by that, I mean it in a good way. I was nervous come the 60% mark and nothing was changing, but the last 3/4ths made up for that. The one thing I wanted more of was the characters and more back story. I felt we got a good chunk of Reed’s past, but not a whole lot on Juliet. This borders YA and NA. NA enough because our character is 18 and in college and is obviously an adult doing adult things. ;) YA in the fact that alot of NA’s I’ve come across, go in detail when things get heated. This doesn’t. It goes into a little detail but nothing like some NA books get. This would be perfect for someone wanting to branch unto NA, but not wanting to be immediately thrown into descriptive sex scenes. Also, a perfect summer read. I read it all in a day. Cute read, would definitely recommend. I’m excited to continue with this series as well as read more by this author. :)

    • FINAL STAR RATING: ☆☆☆☆
  • Where We Belong by J. Daniels: Holy crap… This was perfect. I hope some of their story is revealed in CJ and Riley’s story. I kinda want to know if it happened… ;) I still haven’t read Reed and Beth’s story yet, but Ben still has hold of me. I adored Luke, and I don’t think Reed or CJ will live up to Ben. I mean, come on, it’s BEN KELLY!!!!! This was a perfect novella and seeing the boys a little grown up kind of hurt. Especially Sir Nolan. I adore that kid to pieces and to see him all grown up at about 4 or 5 years old, it hurts. :P Loved it.. Can’t praise J. Daniels enough. I adore her books!!
    • FINAL STAR RATING: ☆☆☆☆☆

What I Started:

meant for her goblet of fire

I haven’t made any more progress in Meant For Her than I did last week. Just wasn’t in the mood for it… I am almost done with Goblet of Fire– about 140 pages as I’m writing this post. It’s my goal to finish the book today.

What I Want to Start:

fifty shades freed after a shattered moment

Fifty Shades Freed will be a re-read with my friend, Monica… After is one of my TBR books for the month I chose, I don’t know if I will have time to start it or not. I may have to push it to next month. Again as I mentioned earlier in the post, I start my classes tomorrow, so I don’t know how demanding it will be… But A Shattered Moment I’m planning on starting regardless of the week. I’m dying to read it.

Well, that’s all I got for this week! I hope to see y’all next week with my wrap up as well as what I plan to read for September and what I accomplished this coming week with this TBR. ;)

Top Ten Tuesday: Auto-Buy Authors

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This is in no particular order. :) It’s too painful to do in order… I’ll be here forever trying to decide!

stay with me where i belong confess

  • Jennifer L. Armentrout
  • J. Daniels
  • Colleen Hoover

the start of you and me sweet reckoning ignite me

  • Emery Lord
  • Wendy Higgins
  • Tahereh Mafi

boundless beautiful obilivion twilight the last song

  • Cynthia Hand
  • Jamie McGuire
  • Stephenie Meyer (well, it would be nice to have more books by her. ;) )
  • Nicholas Sparks (I’ve only read 2, but I ADORED them)

I’m surprised at how hard this was! I figured this would have been one of the EASIEST topics ever… When really, I spent forever picking! I’ve come across SOO many authors, but a lot I’ve either only read 1 (or 2) and they may only have 1 or they have already written alot. So those authors, I couldn’t add because it wouldn’t be fair because I haven’t read enough to actually have an opinion. But, this was a fun topic! It would be interesting to see this next year and see how my tastes have changed (or stayed same). :)

five-stars

A sassy, in-your-face baker. A panty-stealing, dirty-talking accountant. And a bathroom quickie that changed their lives forever.

Wedding hook-ups never amount to anything.

Unless that hook-up knocks you on your ass.

For Dylan Sparks and Reese Carroll, the big day can’t arrive soon enough. Dylan, stressed to the max from overbearing mothers and last minute preparations, struggles to keep her sanity. As for Reese, he’s fighting to not only keep his bride-to-be safe from creepy investors, but also to make it to the actual wedding day without losing his mind in the process.

Throw in a crazy group of friends, and a bachelor/bachelorette party weekend getaway, and you have a recipe for the sweetest wedding of the year.

Reese Carroll and Dylan Sparks cordially invite you to read Sweet Possession.

what i thoughtIf you thought the first book was hot and steamy… Wait until you pick this one up!

This picks right up where Sweet Addiction left off. Dylan and Reese are preparing everything to get married. Dylan thought this would be easy, but with both her mom and her soon to be mother-in-law, it’s kind of a joke. She’s extremely stressed out about the wedding because both moms argue about everything for the wedding.  If you thought all the drama ended in the first book, your wrong. But the drama isn’t unnecessary or annoying, it’s entertaining.

The romance and humor made this one for me. It was balanced very nicely and I had even more trouble putting this one down! I was completely immersed in these characters and wanting to know more about them.

Reese had an even dirtier mind this time around and I will probably never look at a bucket of ice the same again. I adored the side characters much more, Joey is probably my favorite. He’s absolutely hilarious! I’m really hoping J. Daniels decides to make a story on Joey and Billy, I would definitely read their story!! I loved that we got to see some glimpses of their love story as well. One of my favorite lines that makes quite a lot of appearances in both books is, “Goddammit, Billy!”

I picked both of these books up on a complete whim after getting the first for free and purchasing this for $.99. I could not be happier with these purchases and I’m so glad I randomly decided to pick these up! I’m really looking forward to more of J. Daniels’ books! Definitely becoming an auto-buy author for me!!

The epilogue tore my heart into a million pieces! By the end I was a complete pile of mushy goo! I ADORED the epilogue!! Reese will forever hold a piece of my heart!
