OBLIVION Synopsis:

Experience the epic love story of OBSIDIAN as told by its hero, Daemon Black…

I knew the moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. Lots of it.

And trouble’s the last thing I need, since I’m not exactly from around here. My people arrived on Earth from Lux, a planet thirteen billion light years away. Plus, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that humans can’t be trusted. We scare them. We can do things they only dream about, and honestly, we make them look weak as hell. ‘Cuz they are.

But Kat is getting to me in ways no one else has, and I can’t stop myself from wanting her—or wanting to use my powers to protect her. She makes me weak, and I’m the strongest of our kind, tasked with protecting us all. So this one simple girl…she can mean the end for us. Because the Luxen have an even bigger enemy—the Arum, and I need to stay on my game.

Falling for Katy—a human—won’t just place her in danger. It could get us all killed, and that’s one thing I’ll never let happen…

My #ForeverMoments & Giveway

My #ForeverMoments:

When I graduated high school in 2012, that was by far the best summer of my life. No summer yet has been able to top it. I don’t know why it turned out to be the best summer or why summers after haven’t lived up to it. Though, I think it’s partly due to having my best friend, who lives in California (I live in Texas) came to visit. We have been best friends since we were (literally, not kidding) in our mommies tummies (our moms are BFF’s also) and moving to Texas now 11 years ago, we hardly ever see each other. We both graduated the same year of course. :) My cousin also visited as well. She has never visited my family and I here in Texas prior to that summer and having her visit for 3 weeks including my graduation, was one of my best memories. My other best friend, who at the time was living here in Texas (now in Kansas for college) is literally my twin… Or so people say. We both believe we don’t look alike, but to every other human being we could pass as twins. She was the person who got me to watch Forest Gump for the first time and bring out the “southern girl” in me.

The summer of 2012 was by far the best summer ever! Honestly, I think it was because I had 3 of the closest people around at the time and getting to spend quality time with them was the best! Texas heat is MIS-ER-ABLE but by some miracle, we made the best of it by going swimming A LOT either at the pools, lake or even a water park. I LOVE going swimming, it’s one of my favorite things about summer. I have soo many pictures of that summer whether they are goofy (majority are anyway) or cute selfies. I have tried every summer to try and beat 2012 and make it better, but it hasn’t happened yet.

FOREVER WITH YOU Excerpt:

I cradled my drink as Cam sauntered back to the pool tables. My mind wasn’t made up on the whole visiting them thing yet. Maybe I would. Maybe I wouldn’t.

            “Want another rum and coke?”

My lips curled up at the sound of Nick’s rich, deep voice. We’d been chatting on and off since I plopped my butt down on the stool, and he had seemed happy that I was there.

Total bonus points lottery with this guy.

“I’m good, but thanks.” The last thing I wanted to be was drunk. I smiled at him, pleased when his heavily hooded gaze dipped again. “Are you guys usually this busy on the weekend?”

I could see that small talk was something Nick excelled at, which made sense, considering his occupation. He was an equal opportunity charmer. Women flocked to him at the bar. The other bartender, the girl with the pink glasses, seemed to take it all in stride.

“Not sure if you really call this busy, but Saturdays usually bring a larger crowd.” He glanced down the bar before continuing. “So you went to school with them?” he asked, jerking his chin in the direction Cam had roamed off to.

“Yeah.” Leaning forward, I placed my elbows on the bar. “I had no idea they had connections here. Total surprise.”

“Small world,” he said, echoing my earlier thought. “But you’re not very close with them.”

It was a statement, not a question. “What makes you think that?”

“Well, if you were, I guess you’d be over there with them. Or …”

Nick was observant. “Or what?”

One side of his lips curled up as he folded his arms across his chest. The movement drew my attention. I was such a visual creature. Not that anyone would blame me right now. The black shirt he wore stretched around well-defined biceps. “Or you’d rather spend the time with me.”

The twisty motion in my belly cranked up a notch. “Am I that transparent?”

“In the best possible way.” He picked up a bottle. “I’m glad you did stop by. Every time the door opened last night, I looked up and hoped it was you.”

            “Is that so?”

“I speak the truth.” His smile was lazy. “Did you finish unpacking?”

            “Yep.”

“Were there any more rat bastard combinations?”

I laughed. “There were a few more.”

“Kind of mad I missed out on them.”

“There’s always later.” I toyed with my glass as I met and held his stare. “So, Nick, do you have a last name?”

“Blanco,” he replied after a brief hesitation. “Do you?”

“Keith.” I grinned as he unfolded those arms. “I have another question for you.”

Moving in, he placed his hands on the bar. “Ask away.”

“Do you have a girlfriend?” My breath caught a little when he leaned in suddenly. Our mouths were close enough that we were breathing the same tiny patch of oxygen. “Or a boyfriend?”

Nick didn’t bat an eyelash. “Nope to both. How about you?”

            Bonus points explosion!

“None,” I said, welcoming the tingle that swirled down my spine as his breath warmed my lips.

He tilted his head to the side, lining up his mouth with mine with just a fraction of an inch between us. I started to feel a little flushed. “You have plans tonight, Stephanie Keith?” he asked, voice deeper and rougher.

I shook my head as my pulse tripped all over itself in a happy little dance.

Nick’s grin spread into the kind of smile I knew left a trail of women in its wake. “You do now.”

Top Ten Tuesday: Finished Series I Have YET to Finish

top ten tuesdayTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Ugh, this topic is me right now. I’m the WORST at finishing series… Let’s get this over with..

Infernal_Devices_Book_1_Clockwork_Angel_9781406321326_CVR clockwork prince clockwork princess

  • The Infernal Devices Trilogy by Cassandra Clare: I’ve only read the first and soon after finishing I was spoiled on the epilogue for Clockwork Princess. This was about a year ago. I’m not sure if being spoiled on the ending is what is keeping me from continuing, no idea.

half blood deity sentinel

  • Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout: I know, your shocked right?? Coming from someone who is OBSESSED with this lady, you’d think I would be done with this series by now. Nope.. Still have only read the 1st one… I’m terrible…

image image image

  • Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling: Okay, cut me some slack. I just started this summer and I’m going to start book 5 at some point. I WILL have this series finished by the end of the year. :)

the darkest minds never fade in the afterlight

  • The Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken: I literally only need to read the last book in this series. I still have yet to do so and I pre-ordered it. I’m bad…

bloodlines the indigo spell the ruby circle

  • Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead: Someone’s favorite series of all time (well at least 1 of them anyway), Vampire Academy you’d think I’d be done with this series. Nope… Still have only read the first. Have I told you guys how bad I am with keeping up with series!? It’s not that I don’t want to read the series, I do.

the lightning thief the titans curse the last olympian

  • Percy Jackson & the Olympians series by Rick Riordan: Read the first book so far. Again, not that I don’t want to read the series, I do. Just other books call to me..

daughter of smoke and bone days of blood and starlight dreams of gods and monsters

  • Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor: Okay, thankfully I only need to read the last one. But oh my gosh, my whole reason why I haven’t read it is the SIZE OF THE DANG BOOK! It’s massive!!! Plus, I’m not much of a fantasy person as you can tell. Not that I don’t like the series, I’m actually in love with it.

uglies pretties specials

  • The Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld: I’ve only read the first. This is a dystopian series that I read like. I like the idea of this world and I have been DYING to continue since I read the first book… Just haven’t done so yet.

marked burned redeemed

  • House of Night series by P.C. and Kristin Cast: I started this series a long time ago. Maybe like 4 or 5 years ago. I’m almost finished with the series, I have the final 2 books left. I’m at this point, that I’m curious to see how it all ends but I’m just like, okay 12 books… Really not necessary.

blue bloods misguided angel gates of paradise

  • Blue Bloods series by Melissa De La Cruz: This is another series I read a while back. Honestly I don’t remember anything from this series. So if I ever do finish it, I will have to start over. I do though remember really liking it. I mean, comeon it’s vampires. Vampires are the reason I love reading. Thank you Twilight. ;)

Top Ten Tuesday: Auto-Buy Authors

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This is in no particular order. :) It’s too painful to do in order… I’ll be here forever trying to decide!

stay with me where i belong confess

  • Jennifer L. Armentrout
  • J. Daniels
  • Colleen Hoover

the start of you and me sweet reckoning ignite me

  • Emery Lord
  • Wendy Higgins
  • Tahereh Mafi

boundless beautiful obilivion twilight the last song

  • Cynthia Hand
  • Jamie McGuire
  • Stephenie Meyer (well, it would be nice to have more books by her. ;) )
  • Nicholas Sparks (I’ve only read 2, but I ADORED them)

I’m surprised at how hard this was! I figured this would have been one of the EASIEST topics ever… When really, I spent forever picking! I’ve come across SOO many authors, but a lot I’ve either only read 1 (or 2) and they may only have 1 or they have already written alot. So those authors, I couldn’t add because it wouldn’t be fair because I haven’t read enough to actually have an opinion. But, this was a fun topic! It would be interesting to see this next year and see how my tastes have changed (or stayed same). :)

vampire academy ugly love the vampire diaries

  • I don’t think I need to say anything for any of these authors? Do I?

My Reading Stack (#9)

reading stackHey guys! I’ve been reading so much this week and I’ve got a lot to show you! So let’s get on with it. :)

What I’ve read so far:

if you stay scorched image every last breath hopeless

I adored all 5 of these books so much! I think from now on when I do these posts, I will post my mini review that I post on Goodreads immediately after finishing the books. That way you guys can see what I thought really quickly. :)

  1. If You Stay by Courtney Cole: HOLY. MOLY. SO. GOOD. I wasn’t a fan of Pax in the beginning, but I quickly fell for his character. Mila is such a sweetheart and I’m like her in many ways. I adored their story and I’m so excited to continue with her sister’s story. Same with Pax, I wasn’t crazy about her at first, but as the story progressed I really started liking her character. Now I’m excited to read her story. :) Pax and Mila are perfect. Loved this book to pieces!
    • FINAL STAR RATING: ☆☆☆☆☆
  2. Scorched by Jennifer L. Armentrout: It’s been like a year and a half since I read Frigid and from what I can gather, Scorched is 50x better!!! There’s no doubt before I started this, that I wouldn’t fall head over heels… I mean comeon, it’s Jennifer L. Armentrout, one of my absolute favorite authors and queen of swoon – worthy men. I knew I would fall for this. I’ve never been let down and I’ve read a very big chunk of her books! I definitely think this is better than Frigid for sure, so much more happens than what Syd and Kyle went through. Not making what happened seem stupid or anything, just Andrea and Tanner had more problems arise than just what Syd and Kyle experienced if you catch my drift. ;) Literally, JLA is queen. Not kidding. Why can’t guys be like her men!? SERIOUSLY!!! Such high expectations in men now.. :P
    • FINAL STAR RATING: ☆☆☆☆☆
  3. Grey by E.L. James: I’m really contemplating starting Fifty Shades Darker… I miss this series, it’s been like 3 years since I read it! I’ve been so excited after seeing this was going to be a real thing! since I read the trilogy 3 years ago I was dying to see into Christian’s mind and how he thought…. I can’t get over how much more I love him now. Love Christian and his twitchy palm. ;)
    • FINAL STAR RATING: ☆☆☆☆☆
  4. Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout: Holy moly… I was a little nervous about that ending… couldn’t be more happier with how everything ended! I adore this trilogy so so much and I’m going to miss it like crazy!!
    • FINAL STAR RATING: ☆☆☆☆☆
  5. Hopeless by Colleen Hoover: wow, I fully understand now why this is alot of people’s favorite book by her. This book was nothing like I expected, but in the best ways possible. I was NOT expecting it to turn out like this at all. Definitely my favorite book by her and that says alot because I feel like I say this everytime I read a book by Colleen Hoover. She is truly a VERY talented writer and without a doubt one of my absolute all time favorite authors. I read alot of her other books this year, and I swore up and down Ugly Love was my favorite and as much as I hate to say this, I now think Hopeless is now my absolute favorite. This book was just so good, so gut-wrenching, just overly perfect in its own way. I cannot praise this book enough! to those that haven’t read it, PLEASE read it…
    • FINAL STAR RATING: ☆☆☆☆☆

What’s on the agenda next:

love in rewind fifty shades darker a shattered moment

I have family coming into town this coming week as well as working/babysitting A LOT this week… Fifty Shades Darker WILL be read for sure. I’m planning to read it with the lovely, Monica @nightreads on Instagram. :) We both miss our Christian and want to re-read! I still have a couple more books as well as books 3 and 4 of Harry Potter left on my TBR. I’m not ready for Harry Potter just yet, maybe after this week we will see how my mood is and how much I read this coming week! :)

(I just noticed all the books in my TBR pile next week are all blue… :D)

See y’all (hopefully) next Sunday or see you with my next post!

Love you guys!
