Top Ten Tuesday: Auto-Buy Authors

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This is in no particular order. :) It’s too painful to do in order… I’ll be here forever trying to decide!

stay with me where i belong confess

  • Jennifer L. Armentrout
  • J. Daniels
  • Colleen Hoover

the start of you and me sweet reckoning ignite me

  • Emery Lord
  • Wendy Higgins
  • Tahereh Mafi

boundless beautiful obilivion twilight the last song

  • Cynthia Hand
  • Jamie McGuire
  • Stephenie Meyer (well, it would be nice to have more books by her. ;) )
  • Nicholas Sparks (I’ve only read 2, but I ADORED them)

I’m surprised at how hard this was! I figured this would have been one of the EASIEST topics ever… When really, I spent forever picking! I’ve come across SOO many authors, but a lot I’ve either only read 1 (or 2) and they may only have 1 or they have already written alot. So those authors, I couldn’t add because it wouldn’t be fair because I haven’t read enough to actually have an opinion. But, this was a fun topic! It would be interesting to see this next year and see how my tastes have changed (or stayed same). :)

1. Branded by Abi Ketner and Missy Kalicicki: Everything about this book was absolute perfection! I’m so grateful that the authors contacted me asking for my honest opinion. I absolutely ADORED this book to pieces!!!

2. Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne: I loved this world and the characters that were introduced. How these 14 kids are surviving while the world is literally falling apart, is awe-inspiring!

3. Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson: I changed my ratings so many times after finishing. I’ve never been affected with my feelings towards a book this much before! What made it even better, was it was a re-telling of Peter Pan. It didn’t end how I wanted it to of course, by nonetheless I absolutely LOVED it to pieces and will definitely read again in the future!

4. Wait for You by Jennifer L. Armentrout: I don’t need an explanation for JLA. No explanation. I have 2 others of hers on this list. :)

Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Covers

top ten tuesdayTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s theme is ‘Top Ten Tuesday REWIND! (Pick from previous topics that you want to do again or may have missed)’. So I decided to do Favorite Covers.

This is in no particular order.

Newsoul trilogy by Jodi Meadows– These are hands down my all time favorite covers! They are absolutely gorgeous. I have not read them yet, but I’m hoping to start Incarnate this month!

Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi– These covers… I’m so glad they did a cover change because I really dislike the original cover on Shatter Me (which I own). These covers are GORGEOUS! I LOVE this trilogy to pieces!!!

Mara Dyer trilogy by Michelle Hodkin– These covers are soo pretty! I love how Mara and Noah are underwater in each cover. I really want my hands on Retribution! They need to quit changing the dates!

Ruby Red trilogy by Kerstin Gier– These covers.. They match perfectly and the design is so perfect and it’s just BEAUTIFUL! A trilogy I still need to read..

Nightshade (book #1; the original cover) by Andrea Cremer– I despise the new covers.. The old cover is so beyond beautiful! I really don’t know why they changed covers…

perfect ruin

Perfect Ruin (The Internment Chronicles #1) by Lauren DeStefano– I could also count her other trilogy (The Chemical Garden trilogy).. The design and everything is soo pretty!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor– These covers are so interesting! I don’t know what it is about these covers, but they are so so pretty!

Halo trilogy by Alexandra Adornetto– My favorite cover is Heaven, I like the heart where the sun is. My least favorite is Hades. But overall, these covers are gorgeous!

Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth– I just love the symbol on each of these books! It’s so interesting!! I still need to finish this trilogy.. Maybe it’ll make more sense as to why the covers are that way?

not a drop to drink in a handful of dust

Not a Drop to Drink series by Mindy McGinnis– Okay.. No words to describe how beautiful these are. When I heard there was a companion novel to Not a Drop to Drink I got super excited because the second cover is just as beautiful!!!

Juliette now knows she may be the only one who can stop the Reestablishment. But to take them down, she’ll need the help of the one person she never thought she could trust: Warner. And as they work together, Juliette will discover that everything she thought she knew – about Warner, her abilities, and even Adam – was wrong.

my thoughts 2

Sorry I didn’t do a synopsis, but it’s hard to do one for a series that’s so popular and the final book in the trilogy. I didn’t want to spoil anyone by trying to write one. But, if you have yet to read this or start the series, I highly suggest doing so. I’ll try my very best to keep this as spoiler-free as possible.

Guys, this trilogy is over. I still can’t believe it. It’s really over! :(

I absolutely loved this book to pieces and if you follow me on Instagram, you may have already seen my post where I show how much flags I put into the book. I have at least 30 flags in it. That should say a lot.. I usually only have at most 5 flags.

I completely switched teams during this! I finished Fracture Me still on both Team Warner and Team Adam.. By half way through Ignite Me, I switched to Team Warner for many reasons.

Juliette has developed so much throughout this trilogy. She has gotten so strong! She went from being scared of being around people and not speaking, to saying whatever she has in mind and completely standing up for herself. I ADORED Kenji. He’s my best friend now. I love him so much. He was such a fantastic best friend to Juliette. He listened to her and was always there for her. Warner, oh gosh. Warner was so adorable and such a complete sweetheart. He was so caring and so compassionate about Juliette, I just can’t help but fall for him. Adam got on my last nerve, he complained and was such a brat throughout Ignite Me. I can’t stand him now. I thought I was never going to hate Adam and never love Warner. Usually I can stick to a team, I’ve never changed teams like this before. No author has actually made me switch. I don’t know what it is about Warner, he is just so adorable and hard not to love.

Tahereh Mafi’s writing just gets better and better with each book she writes. I’m really excited to see what she writes next-if she does. I really hope so. She’s such a fantastic author, her writing is so compelling. You can’t not love her writing. It’s so beautiful and magical. (bad choice of words- it’s hard to explain.)

The ending was so fantastic and I couldn’t have asked for a better ending! I really wish there was more though. I’m still in denial that this trilogy is over. I want more to the story, I want to see what happens now. I’m hoping Tahereh Mafi makes a continuation or a spin-off or something.

“Why do you call her ‘love’?” James asks. “I’ve heard you say that before, too. A lot. Are you in love with her? I think Adam’s in love with her. Kenji’s not in love with her, though. I already asked him.”
Warner blinks at him.
“Well?” James asks.
“Well what?”
“Are you in love with her?”
“Are you in love with her?”
“What?” James blushes. “No. She’s like a million years older than me.”
“Would anyone else like to take over this conversation?” Warner asks, looking around the group.”– page 267

“Hey, um, I’m sorry to bother you, but I’m looking for a friend of mine,” he says. “Have you seen her? She’s a tiny little thing, cries a lot, spends too much time with her feelings-”
“Shut up, Kenji!”
“Oh wait!” he says. “It is you.”– page 83

He cocks his head at me. “That’s like, biological and shit. Scientific. Maybe your lady bits are scientifically confused.”

My lady bits?

“Oh, I’m sorry”– Kenji pretends to look offended– “would you rather I use the proper anatomical terminology? Because your lady bits do not scare me–”

“Yeah, no thanks.” I manage to laugh a little, my sad attempt dissolving into a sigh. — page 156-57

Mini Review: Fracture Me by Tahereh Mafi

fracture meFracture Me by Tahereh Mafi
Series: Shatter Me #2.5
Published by: HarperCollins on December 17th 2013
Genre: Dystopia, Romance, Young Adult
Pages: 68
Source: Bought- e-book & paperback bind-up (read on bind-up)

My Rating: 5 stars2

In this electrifying sixty-page companion novella to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, discover the fate of the Omega Point rebels as they go up against The Reestablishment. Set during and soon after the final moments of Unravel Me, Fracture Me is told from Adam’s perspective.

As Omega Point prepares to launch an all-out assault on The Reestablishment soldiers stationed in Sector 45, Adam’s focus couldn’t be further from the upcoming battle. He’s reeling from his breakup with Juliette, scared for his best friend’s life, and as concerned as ever for his brother James’s safety. And just as Adam begins to wonder if this life is really for him, the alarms sound. It’s time for war.

On the battlefield, it seems like the odds are in their favor—but taking down Warner, Adam’s newly discovered half brother, won’t be that easy. The Reestablishment can’t tolerate a rebellion, and they’ll do anything to crush the resistance . . . including killing everyone Adam has ever cared about.

Fracture Me sets the stage for Ignite Me, the explosive finale in Tahereh Mafi’s epic dystopian series. It’s a novella not to be missed by fans who crave action-packed stories with tantalizing romance like Divergent by Veronica Roth, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and Legend by Marie Lu.

my thoughts 2

I waited to read this until I got the bind-up and Ignite Me. Also, sorry there’s no synopsis that I wrote, I figured I didn’t need one considering this is a novella. It is told from Adam’s point of view.

I REALLY enjoyed this novella! I’ve heard many people say after reading this, they hated Adam? I don’t understand why… I saw the “soft” side of Adam… I don’t understand why people hate him after… I’m still torn between Adam and Warner and I’m really hoping that by the end of Ignite Me that I have a clear idea of who’s team I’m on…

I really enjoyed having these novellas in the middle of the trilogy. They give great perspectives to our main men! I loved reading their perspectives, even though they were less than 100 pages.

If you have yet to start this series, I HIGHLY recommend doing so! This series is fantastic!!!

But even after all this, I still want a future with her. I want to know that one day we’ll be able to settle somewhere safe and be together in peace. I’m not ready to give up on that dream yet. I’m not ready to give up on us. –page 120 (Unite Me)

Kenji grins. “Okay then. Let’s go get our girl back.”

My girl,” I correct him. “She’s my girl.”

Kenji snorts as we head in the direction of the compounds. “Right. Minus the part where she’s not actually your girl. Not anymore.”

“Shut up.”

“Whatever.” — page 150 (Unite Me)

Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I’d NEVER Want To Trade Places With

top ten tuesdayTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s theme is ‘Top Ten Goals/Resolutions For 2014’.

This is in no particular order.

the unbecoming of mara dyer the hunger games Shatter me new eye co#1A459 the darkest minds marked

1. Mara Dyer from the Mara Dyer trilogy by Michelle Hodkin- Do I need to explain? Her best friend, boyfriend, and friend are dead and she can’t remember why. She thinks she’s involved.. Do I need any further explanation!?

2. Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins- Seriously… I don’t need to explain this one. Everyone and their family has read this trilogy and knows why I’m choosing Katniss.

3. Juliette from the Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi- Once your touched by Juliette, your dead. No questions asked, your dead. So no, I don’t want to trade places. I’m sorry Juliette, I love your character, but your life kind of stinks.

4. Ruby from The Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken- I wouldn’t actually mind trading places because *cough* Liam *cough. But whereas the world, HECK NO. I’m sorry, but to live in that world, nope.

5. Zoey Redbird from the House of Night series by P.C. and Kristin Cast- Okay, it’s been 11 books and I feel sorry for the girl… Everything that could go wrong, goes wrong.

divergent angelfall the vampire diaries obsidian pretty little liars

6. Tris from the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth- Okay, I’ve only read Divergent so I can’t really say anything. But, I have a very short list of books I can choose from. Tris doesn’t have the world’s best life that’s for sure. I definitely WOULD NOT want to trade places with her!

7. Penryn from Penryn and the End of Days series by Susan Ee- Okay, a world that has been taken over by angels and is completely gory?! COUNT ME OUT!!

8. Elena Gilbert from The Vampire Diaries series (and show) by L.J. Smith- Okay, I’ve read at least the first 4 books in this series and literally anything that could go wrong, goes wrong. The ONLY reason I’d want to live Elena’s life is for Mr. Stefan Salvatore. Only reason.

9. Dee Black from the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout- I feel so bad for Dee especially after what happens in Onyx. I just want to crawl into a corner and cry with her. I’d definitely not want to be in her place.

10. Alison Dilaurentis from the Pretty Little Liars series by Sara Shepard- Okay, anyone that has ever heard of this series knows what I’m talking about. Alison is dead. –not a spoiler– This is probably not the best choice, but as I’ve said previously, I have a very short list of books I can choose from.
