Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

what i thoughtI thought this was awesome! I loved that it took place in New Orleans!!! That’s one of the places I’ve always wanted to visit. And I’m pretty stinking close (in Texas!) I absolutely loved the 2 main characters! They were hilarious!!!! I couldn’t get enough of their conversations. I also loved that this was new adult. I have been in such a new adult mood the past few months and this was perfect for that!

Ivy is part of the Order who is responsible for destroying fae. Being apart of the Order isn’t an easy life, those you love die all the time. This is what happened to Ivy. She only has her best friend left and she can’t risk loosing anyone else important. Ivy keeps running into the same guy named Ren. Ren is a drop dead, 6 foot tall, swoon-worthy guy… But Ivy doesn’t want to loose another person. As Ivy and Ren start to spend more time, whether she likes it or not, she’s going to have to decide if he’s worth the risk. But that could cost her something…

I loved Ivy and Ren’s constant banter between the two of them. They definitely sure hold a lot of sexual tension and it’s just waiting to burst. Ren is something to look at that’s for sure! I’m definitely adding him to my top book boyfriends list along with all the other male characters I’ve come across in this book! ;)

I love that JLA makes references to pop culture; like The Walking Dead and Supernatural or the Marked Men series by Jay Crownover (haven’t read, but want to). I think it makes me love it even more when I come across those kinds of references because I guess it helps me more connect with the main character. It gives me a peak inside what the characters like besides what’s going on in the story.

My favorite character though would have to be Tink. He’s a character who you will be introduced to towards the beginning of the book. He was absolutely historical and I adored his personality. I would kill to have him in my house! Though, not so much his obsession with ordering things on Amazon and eating up your credit card. :P
Seriously, there’s nothing I don’t like about her books! Especially her romance. Ohh boy.. I will say… it was a little hard at first to get into. This does surround fae and I will say I haven’t read many fae books. I know faes don’t have the best reputation. I can’t say that this is the best I’ve ever read because I think this is like the 2nd one I’ve read. So I can’t promise that everyone will like this one. But I did and I would definitely, definitely recommend this!! Definitely give it a shot even if your not that big a fan of fae.

quotes

“You were not acting. You were not pretending.” The teasing dropped from his tone as his voice hardened. “You were riding my hand, and Ivy, there isn’t a damn thing wrong with that. What’s wrong is that you’re acting like nothing happened between us. That’s total shit. You lit up for me like a damn firework and I barely touched you.” — page 208

.

“If you tell me to leave, I’ll turn and walk away. I swear that, Ivy, but I had to try one more time. I’m not going to possibly go to my grave without trying. Please. Don’t let me go.” — page 312

.

“Grabbing a scarf off the chair, I threw it at him.

He caught it, clutching it to his chest as he flew into the air. “You gave Tink a scarf. Tink is free!” He flew out into the hallway like a little cracked-out fairy, screeching, “Tink is freeeeee!”

Ren looked at me. “What the actual f**k?”
I sighed. “He’s obsessed with Harry Potter. I’m sorry.”

Tink darted back into the room, holding the scarf to his bare chest. “There is no reason to apologize when it comes to Harry Potter.”
“You do remember what happened to Dobby, right?” I said.

“S**t.” Tink’s eyes widened and he dropped the scarf.” — page 334

  1. Oh, I’m so glad I found a positive review of this! Besides yours I read only a few but they were all three or less star reviews and said that this book can’t live up to JLA’s other novels. I’m glad you thought otherwise. To be honest, like you, I rarely read fae books, and I enjoy less than half of them. I’m hoping Wicked will turn out fantastic. :)
    Wonderful review! :)

    • Ohh really? That stinks! I will say it honestly isn’t her best because the Lux series will always be my favorite. Then next is Dark Elements. But definitely an amazing book!!!!!
